The Rayar family, originally known as the Rayakudu clan from Kannur, arrived in Kollungkodi seven generations ago, coinciding ominously with the village's impending curse. Initially a secretive lineage, their presence was shrouded in whispers of Maandrigam, blood rituals, and witchcraft. The first Rayars settled into a modest home, maintaining a low profile, but over the next two generations, they amassed wealth through money laundering, their influence slowly infiltrating the village's fabric.

As the Rayars gained prominence, tensions with the Panayar family escalated. The Panayars, who had long been the village's ruling family, viewed the Rayars with disdain. This friction intensified with the mysterious disappearance of Alamelu Mangaiyar, fueling rumors that linked her fate to Rayar witchcraft and the wrath of Veerabhadran. The growing feud between the two families became a palpable undercurrent in the village, entwined with the ancient curses that hung over Kollungkodi.

Let's look at the current generation family line.

The current head of the Naicker family is a powerful figure who commands most of the village's land and is deeply entrenched in money laundering operations. The enmity between the Naickers and the Panayars stretches back two decades, to a scandalous episode that shook Kollungkodi to its core.

Twenty-one years ago, Manikavel Rayar, a rebellious spirit, eloped with the Panayar family's youngest daughter. This audacious act, coupled with the revelation of her out-of-wedlock pregnancy, ignited a bitter feud between the families. The conflict reached a tragic peak when Manikavel's father was killed in a mysterious accident, a death that was widely attributed to the Panayars' machinations.

The Naicker head, driven by a profound grudge and a desire for retribution, has since expanded his family's influence while nurturing this deep-seated animosity. The tension between the Naicker and Panayar families continues to simmer, casting a long shadow over the village and fueling the ongoing rivalry that shapes their interactions and the fate of Kollungkodi.
