Shoto wakes up the next morning with Katsuki snuggled against his bare chest. His mind replays the events from the night before. He never took Katsuki for a submissive, but he guesses all the bravado he shows is just a display of aggression. He checks his phone, trying to understand what time and day it is. He feels as though he's still on a high from the previous night. He knew they'd end up here from the pocky game.
His phone tells him the information he needs. It is currently 7:27 on a Friday morning. Shoto's eyes open wide, his mouth agape. No! They're going to be late.
"Bakugo, Bakugo!" he says in a stressed tone, shaking his blond haired, one night stand partner awake. "Bakugo, wake up!"
"Shove me again and I'll kill you," he mumbles, his eyes still closed. "What the hell do you want?"
"It's 7:30 and we have school today."
The sentence makes Katsuki bolt up. He winces at the pain to his lower area, a glower set on his face that makes Shoto's stomach flip in fear. "I'm in pain," he hisses. "You're going to class, and you're going to tell them I'm sick."
"What do I say if they ask what you have?" Shoto stresses, climbing off of the futon and trying to find his uniform, only to realize it's crumpled on the floor from last night. "Look, we're both sick now. I'll text Midoriya and you text Kirishima. We have food poisoning from... the pocky we ate."
Katsuki furrows his brows but doesn't object to the lie. Instead, he shifts, likely trying to move himself with as little pain as possible. Shoto walks over, now covered with boxers and sweats, offering to carry Katsuki.
The blond looks at his arms, then accepts the offer. "I'm only doing this because it's convenient," he says. "I don't need your help."
"I think I liked you better when you were begging for me." Shoto barely dodges an explosion aimed at his head.
Carefully and quietly, Shoto manages to carry Katsuki back to his dorm. He helps him lay in bed. "Since you're in worse shape, I'll by the one taking care of 'us'," Shoto announces, using air quotes. "You know because you're actually sick, and I'm not. But according to the others, we'll both be sick."
"I'm not an idiot," Katsuki snaps. "And I'm not sick. I'm just sore. As soon as I rest up, I'll be able to kick your ass."
Shoto bites back any retorts. He texts Izuku, telling the greenette about his "food poisoning" and asking if he'll lend him notes. Izuku hopes he gets well soon and tells him he'll share his notes. Shoto looks up as Katsuki lays his phone back down on the nightstand.
"The idiots know," he says, rolling over.
"They know what we did?" Shoto asks in horror. "You told them that!"
"No!" Katsuki snaps, his face equally in shock. "I'm not an idiot! What happened stays between us and it won't happen again, so it won't be a problem."
Shoto bites his lip. It won't happen again, he said. Shoto doesn't know why, but that stings. Oh wait, he does know why. He has a crush on Katsuki, that's why. And it's clear Katsuki does not feel the same way.
☆彡
Shoto looks at his notebook, containing a page of a journal entry he wrote.
Okay, so I like Katsuki. Got it. I have to find a way to get him to kiss me again. Should I just ask? No, he'd never go for that. It's got to be something he can't say no to. Pocky!! A rematch. He can't so say no to that.
And he didn't. He was hesitant at first, but the idea of beating Shoto was clearly too tempting. He played again, kissed him again. Shoto felt fireworks across his body when Katsuki climbed into his lap again, threaded his fingers into his hair, tugged on his hair, moaned because of him. Shoto made Katsuki putty in his hands, and he loved every second of it.
But now all of that's over. Katsuki isn't going to fall for the trick anymore; he's already won. If Shoto wants to win Katsuki's favor, he'd have to ask someone who knows Katsuki well. But going to Kirishima and the others is like biting a bullet. They won't give out information without a price. And that price is more information.
They'd grill him like a steak, until he confesses all the secrets they want to hear. Shoto can't expose himself just yet. If he can, he should try to garner his favor on his own, by being himself.
But for now, Katsuki is barking orders and Shoto has no choice but to oblige. He brings Katsuki food and drink, warming and cooling the pad when he needs it. A couple times someone will send them a text, offering to swing by the dorm to help.
Quickly, and politely in Shoto's case, they'll decline. Katsuki will say he's making Shoto do everything, which is actually is, and Shoto will tell them he's doing alright and since he ate less pocky than Katsuki, he's not as sick. He tells him he thinks food poisoning could be contagious and he'd rather them not get sick as well.
Tenya had to correct Shoto, telling him there's no way for the others to contract it because they'd have to eat the same pocky the two ate, but accepted that Shoto didn't want them to come.
Katsuki sleeps most of it off, and Shoto tries to find other ways to keep himself occupied. He knows he can't look through Katsuki's room, and apparently he can't leave either. He tried to once, and Katsuki said if he went back to his room, he'd kill him.
Always with the death.
So, with his phone plugged, Shoto researches "how to gain the favor of someone you like". He doesn't find an article that gives him the perfect answer, but he gets the general gist.
If he makes himself Katsuki's type, he's likely to get what he wants. Which is Katsuki's affection.
But to do that, he'd have to know what Katsuki's type is. And for that information, he'll have to make a deal with the devils.
hey,, can we talk ??
