Y/n gradually regained consciousness on the hospital bed, his mind a whirlwind of distress as he strove for composure. The memories of the facility clung to him—vivid and harrowing. The excruciating pain he endured, the experiments that shattered both body and spirit, had reduced him to a shadow of himself. He questioned if he would ever escape the facility's grasp; the physical scars may fade, but the psychological wounds were likely to linger for years.

Despite his incredible power, he couldn't save himself from anything...

With his eyes wide open and scanning the room, Y/n's gaze settled on the slumbering figure of Eraserhead. The hero was deep in sleep, oblivious to the world around him. Despite every instinct urging him to remain still, Y/n cautiously swung his legs off the hospital bed. As he looked down, the realization of his small stature dawned on him. Mustering a shred of bravery, Y/n took a leap from the bed—

CRASH.

Considering he hadn't moved for several days and was still recuperating, Y/n collapsed onto the ground with a loud thud, eliciting a small gasp of pain upon impact. The noise seemed to awaken Aizawa; the drowsy hero immediately sprang to alertness and fixed his gaze on Y/n. Part of him was astonished to see the young boy moving so swiftly—it had been only a few days since he was battered by debris, yet he appeared strong enough to move. The Erasure Hero promptly approached Y/n's side and assisted him to his feet.

Aizawa: You shouldn't be moving around so much kid, you're still recovering.

Y/n remained silent, feeling insignificant in the grand scheme of things. Looking up at Aizawa with wide eyes, he questioned his own worth. With so much power at his disposal, yet unable to harness it for good, he saw himself as damaged, perpetually unhelpful—a curse he bore.

Aizawa: the doctors and nurses will be around shortly, they'll see if your well enough to move.

Aizawa swiftly lifted Y/n back onto the bed, his anger resurfacing. The hero thought it was inexcusable how this young boy had been treated worse than an animal, exploited for his quirks. Aizawa harbored a desire for retribution against those responsible, but with Y/n as the sole survivor of the facility, such thoughts were futile. Nonetheless, he couldn't shake the feeling that Y/n had been dealt an unjust hand in life.

Aizawa: I'll be by your side Kid, you don't have to worry, no one here wants to hurt you.

Y/N: O-Okay...

Y/n, however, remained sceptical; gaining his trust was nearly impossible. Aizawa and Detective Tsukauchi had demonstrated no intent to harm him, yet the doctors and nurses still had a long way to go...

Y/n reclined on the bed, thoughts racing at breakneck speed. He pondered the future, knowing he would stay with Aizawa—a prospect he welcomed, as the hero had earned his respect and trust. Could there be others who might become his friends? The young boy had much to consider, yet for now, he concentrated on the present.

A nurse entered the room, her face covered with a smile of grace, she walked over to Aizawa's and Y/n's side.

Nurse: The boy should be able to move in the hour, he resilient to say the least, his body healed faster than we thought!

Aizawa: That's good to hear, kids going to be living with me, anything I should know before he heads out of here?

Nurse: there's little I could tell you, just be easy with him...he's been through a lot and needs a hand in life.

Aizawa grumbled slightly, he knew that Y/n had suffered, and it would be up to him to show the young boy love...

Nurse: Y/n? are you alright to move?

Y/n looked down at his hands sheepishly and nodded. Swinging his legs off the bed, he cautiously stood up, his legs trembling like jelly. Aizawa quickly came to the boy's side to steady him. The young boy's hand clung to Aizawa's right hand, and for a brief moment, he felt as though he truly had a chance in the world.

After walking around for a bit and gradually gaining the strength to stand independently, the young boy shifted his gaze to the nurse and Hero. They were looking at him with approval and happiness. Y/n couldn't recall ever feeling this way before; his memories were only of pain and sorrow. Nevertheless, he endeavored to steer his thoughts in a positive direction, approaching the adults and gazing up at them with a timid expression.

Y/N; W-What happens now?

Nurse: You get to leave this place and live with Aizawa for the time being! Don't worry, he's one of the good ones, he also has a cat! that's a big plus!

Y/n hummed slightly for a moment, he had zero idea on what a cat was but he guessed it must be interesting if the kind nurse must like them!

Aizawa: Thanks for the help, I probably should get the kid out of here and back home.

Nurse: That's probably for the best, doubt the kid we'll give you much trouble, he's seems like a wonderful little boy.

Aizawa: Your damn right that he'll not cause trouble, he's the kindest kid I know

Aizawa tenderly rested his hand on Y/n's shoulder, prompting the young boy to look up, his eyes alight with admiration. Despite having no obligation to do so, the hero's kindness persisted. Y/n mused that if every hero mirrored Aizawa, his future was indeed looking brighter. A fleeting smile graced his face, marking the moment.

Aizawa quickly led Y/n out of the hospital room. The young boy's gaze was fixed on the nurses and doctors bustling through the halls, each offering Y/n warm smiles and kind words. A weight seemed to lift from the boy's heart; he hadn't anticipated encountering so many friendly faces. His smile grew wider as he felt reassured that indeed, his life had taken a turn for the better.

________

Upon reaching the hospital exit, Y/n gazed outside in astonishment at the myriad of colours and sights previously unseen: verdant trees and grass, cars bustling about, and people going about their lives. His eyes sparkled like comedic stars while Aizawa chuckled in the background. Y/n turned with an even broader smile—was this the world he had been missing? It surpassed all his expectations, resembling a paradise that seemed almost too perfect to be real.

Aizawa: I assume your surprised by everything?

Y/n: Y-Yes! it looks so....weird...

Aizawa: I can't imagine what it's like to see all this for the first time...I'm...I'm sorry...that the heroes failed you Y/n, I promise you, we'll never let you be hurt again...

Y/n: T-Thank you...

Aizawa felt as if Y/n's words had pierced his heart. The young boy was still willing to give those who had failed him another chance. It was, to say the least, quite surprising. While most would have scorned the heroes for their failure, Y/n still harbored hope in his heart.

It was inspiring to say the least...

Aizawa: well c'mon, Let's get to my home, hopefully before night-time.

Without hesitation, Y/n hurried to Aizawa's side and gently took his hand, their face alight with hope. To the young boy, Aizawa couldn't be anything less than the world's greatest hero.

A hero he wanted to be like...
