My eyes dart around the room as I search for anything that can contain the pendulum, I feel my breath get caught in my throat as I notice a key in a glass case. My heart skips a beat when I notice that there is no way to open it so I make the executive decision to cast an unlocking spell hoping I can remember what my master taught me, I close my eyes and cast the spell "Swosh." Nothing happens I try again "Swosh." Nothing happens so either I'm casting it wrong or it will never work.
Onto plan two smashing it with a random wood plank I found on the ground. I take a swing at the case "Bonk." Nothing I try again "Bonk." OH COME ON BREAK YOU DAMN THING! Planting my feet on the ground I swing again "Crack." Ah ha, I'm onto something one last time should do it! "Smash!" I quickly cover my eyes before the flying glass shards manage to blind me. I wince in pain as a glass shard lodges itself into my left leg. Shit that hurts this will probably affect my ability to walk so I have to be careful. Carefully I take the piece of glass out of my leg and I rip a piece of cloth off of my shirt and wrap it around the wound stopping the bleeding.
Reaching out I grab the key and start to inspect it. Hmm, it looks like it might fit into the book I found earlier. "Click" the key slots in perfectly and the clasp unlocks. As I open the book a strong musky scent fills my nose and the ink starts slithering across the page letters combine and form different words then separate again. They all slowly began forming into a serpent-like being. It slowly began to slither off the page to form a huge black sninkling. Shit, this isn't good sinklings are extremely poisonous, when ever they latch onto their prey they inject an ink poisoning that slowly turns them into ink.
My breath catches in my throat as I stare down the beast, my heart bangs against my chest threatening to break free. "Hey there buddy I didn't mean to wake you I'm just passing through." I whisper while putting my hands in the air slowly to show I'm not a threat. As it slowly circles me I don't break eye contact, as I know the minute I do I'm dead.
Unable to contain my fear my fox ears and tail pop out, startling the sninkling. Its eyes narrow onto my tail as it lunges, its fangs bared menacingly I barely dodge the oncoming attack, by jumping onto a table. I notice a charm around its neck that looks like a pendulum. I have two choices die while trying or just die, mine as well chose option number one.
