“Calm down, Cielo.” Protacio said when he noticed the latter's vigilant demeanor.
“Let me introduce him properly to all of you. Everyone, this is my amigo, Silvestre Nuevez. Silvestre, this is my family. It's not like you didn't knew them already.” He added, chuckling afterwards.
Cielo's and Maki's eyebrows furrowed upwards in confusion.
‘What's going on?’ Cielo thought.
All of them abandoned the rooftop and now, they surround the long table in the dining room. The other two girl's keep a good distance from Silvestre Nuevez. Aware of what he's capable of.
Protacio cleared his throat to liberate the awkwardness and the tension in the atmosphere around the confine of the room.
“Well, I invited him over because I want him to join us for dinner. And to clear this whole ‘Misconception’.” The old Madrigal said.
“Oh god, paano ko ba 'to sisimulan.” he muttered under his breath, although barely audible the others heard him. Silvestre, however, could only let out a laugh when he saw the dilemma of his amigo. He shook his head.
“Stop laughing at me. You're not helping.” Protacio scold the old man, in a playful manner. Before he divert his attention to the youngsters across from him, who's lost and seemingly battling with their inner thoughts as well.
“You'll probably hate me for this, Harold. Pero I proceeded with the agreement that we had,” confusion enwrapped the three girls face and minds.
“Medyo natatagalan na ako sa pag-iintay ng tamang panahon, kaya nag-isip ako ng plano kung paano ko sila mapapaglapit and well, this is not intentionally pero naging ‘victim’ ang anak mo sa pagsasagawa ng plano. Ang bagal kasi ng apo ko kumilos.” Protacio continues.
Cielo's eyebrows perked up.
“Lolo, ano ba talaga ang nangyayari?”
“To cut the story short, me and Silvestre device a plan to made the agreement possible. All those attempt of Nuevez to ‘harrass’ Maki and for you to be protective over her, all of it was the part of the plan.” The old Madrigal uttered, confessing the devious scheme that him and Silvestre come up.
The young Madrigal couldn't help to be curious about the ‘Agreement’ that her grandfather's bringing up from the moment he started talking, and so she raise the question that's been bugging her mind.
“What agreement?” their head turn to Harold when he was the one who speak and answered Cielo's question.
“Your Lolo and my father was good friends. Actually, the Rivera's and Madrigal's are. Nang mga bata pa lang kayo, ipinagkasundo na kayo ng mga Lolo niyo na kayo dapat ang magkakatuluyan, it came out to us na it was just a joke between you know– Amigos. Kaya I didn't think about it too much, but when your mother and grandmother, my mother, my wife, and my father got into an accident that cost their life.....And before Maki's Lolo final breath, he brought up about the agreement, supposedly seems to be his final wish. Pero you two were so little back then, and I was well, I just lost three of the most important people in my life. Nag migrate kami sa ibang bansa, hanggang sa maka-move on ako sa pagkawala nila and that's when we go back in the Philippines to start again. Hindi na masyadong stable ang komunikasyon ko sa mga Madrigal, sa pamilya niyo, kung kaya't hindi na ako nag-abala na mag-reconnect pa, and about the agreement, it got buried with the memories with my beloved ones as well.” Harold's long litany with utmost seriousness in his tone. While the three girls listen intently to him.
