"Y/N L/N, Y/N L/N, let down your hair!" A rough voice hollered, cutting me from my rest. I groaned, sitting up and throwing my blanket to the side. I slid out of bed, walking over to the window to look down on whoever. Turns out, as suspected by the iconic voice, it was Garry.

"Hey, Gary! What's-" I was cut off by him harshly ringing a cowbell. "Another town meeting? Already?"

"Yeah! It's serious, too! You're gonna wanna come down here!" He called. I nodded, running to my wardrobe to quick change into some day clothing and my diamond trimmed netherite armour. I dashed to the pole in my tower, gripping onto it and swiftly sliding down, landing roughly. You'd think I'd get better, after five years of sliding down the same old pole in the same old tower.

I dashed out to the door, jumping down the step to jog over to Garry. (I almost tripped, but we don't talk about that.)

"This is the fourth town meeting this week." I panted, planting my hands onto my knees to catch my breath. "What in the name of Jeb almighty is going on?"

"Andrew got hurt." Garry sighed, a look of multiple different pains in his expression. My eyebrows shot up.

"Another got hurt? Seriously?" I rubbed my temples. "Does anyone know what happened?"

"No. Andrew can't even remember what happened."

"You'd think we'd get closer after four injured cases." I grumbled. I paused, having a faint lightbulb moment. "What patrol was Andrew on?"

"South."

"And how about Ian, L'Loaf, and Austin?" I questioned.

"S-" Garry paused. "Oh my Notch, you're a genius, Y/N!" He squealed. I nodded happily, and I grabbed his wrist, dragging him to the town central for the meeting.

The sun was just beginning to rise, and so I was mildly surprised Andrew had gotten hurt while being on the morning south patrol. With him not exactly being a morning person, it was shocking that he willingly took the patrol.

At Town Hall, we met with Zud, Pat, and Kate.

"Man, this is wiping us out." I groaned.

"*It's just us five left." Pat fiddled with the latch of his messenger bag, a nervous habit from five or so years back when we always were keeping track of things.

"Phil's still a person, silly." Zud reminded.

"Phil's busy taking care of the four." Kate commented.

"It's just us five for patrols, is what I meant." Pat rolled his eyes.

Garry scratched his chin in thought. "I don't like this. I don't like this one bit."

"Well. The problem area's been the south patrol, right? Since all four victims got hurt on south patrol." I explained. "So naturally, where do we go?"

"North. Farthest away." Pat grinned a bit. I shook my head.

"Uh, no, I'm going south." Everyone immediately bursted into their own shouts of protest, and I winced at the noise. "We have to figure out what's going on, don't we? I'm the fastest, I'm the strongest. Do we want this mystery left unsolved?"

"I- I suppose it couldn't exactly hurt." Zud mumbled. "Just be careful, and stay very, very safe."

"No! I do not condone this! Last time someone went out on a dumb patrol Nico got mauled by wolves!" Garry cut in. He immediately winced at my hard glare.

"We do not speak of the Nico Incident."

"He was your brother- don't you care?"

"Shut up." Truth was, I did actually care. I cared a lot. Nico was there for me, he cared for me. He raised me when we had no family to. "Anyways. Where were we? Oh, yeah. I'm going to solve that mystery."

Garry deeply scowled at me, and Zud modded. Kate and Pat had worried expressions, not quite having chosen a side.

"What if you don't make it out?" Pat questioned in a nervous whisper. I froze for a moment, shaking my head.

"I'm stronger than them. If Austin made it out, I will too." I paused, thinking for a moment. "Give me 24 hours. If I'm not back by then, I give you full permission to start worrying. Until then, don't."

"That's fair." Zud shrugged, glancing over at Kate. She had a look of distaste on her face.

"But we still can't afford to-" She started, but I cut her off.

"It'll be fine. I promise. Just trust me."

Garry grumbled some things, glancing at the group before looking at me. "Fine. But I still don't like the idea. Just make it worth it."

I nodded. "I'll get on it, then."

With that, I rushed to Ian's bakery to (steal) borrow some bread for breakfast before heading to my tower. I began to pack, grabbing my messenger bag. I set my netherite ax in it, along with some potions of healing and instant damage that I had happily (stolen) borrowed from my friends. I grabbed my shield before sliding back down the pole to head to patrol. Nothing was stopping me.

And there I went.

The first time around, I wrote at a playground outside. This time, I wrote at my cousins' football games outside. Not so different, I guess? Maybe I should go outside to write in general.

I hope you all enjoyed this. I'm very happy with the new version, and I'm very happy to be able to share it with you. Thank you for stopping by.
