this is an angst kinich fic btw!! (his lore/backstory is so sad), i think some of you may came from tiktok thoo lol🧐 sorry if its bad and pretty much rushed cuz i made it while i was at the mall☹️!

It was the travalers b-day! While in the time being, they we're at natlan and have met only a few people still, but they we're too busy/side tracked, by the amount of stuff they had to do, just to save or atleast find clues of there missing twin/sibling from the archons.

in the mean time, half the natlan wanted to celebrate it. Although they decided to only surprise the travaler at midnight or at afternoon.

While doing preparations, kinich felt like leaving so he did, mualani chased/ran up to him before he could, "hey there kinich! Where are you going?" She said in a lively tone, kinich looked at her and crossed his arms "outside, why are you asking mualani?" He said straightforward, before mualani could even speak/say a word, ajaw decided to butt in "oh, so your stupid little friend decided to come with us too!? What a waste of time! I, kh'uhl ajaw the dragon lord al mighty--- " before ajaw could complain more kinich stopped him and blantly said "stop yapping ajaw, mualani hasnt even said a word about going with us, she just asked where we're going, now stop assuming' kinich sighed and glanced at ajaw fumming, mualani ignored him, "well then, kinich, where are you going anyways? I dont wanna seem noisy, just curious!" She said with a somehow cheerful expression as she puts her hands on her hips. 'Nothing much mualani, just headed outside, you can go with me, i pretty much dont mind.' He shaked his head, also ignoring ajaw.
Mualani nodded in the understanding matter of the understatement. "Sure! Although, I'll have to prepare for the travalers birthday, are you going to go with me too?' She questioned. "No i have work to do." kinich said, he didnt say it in a rude tone, whatsoever. "Alright! I"ll go now, i have to help kachina with the gifts! See you kinich! Byeee!-" she said with a cheerful expression and tone, as she waved at him and walked away, trying to help kachina with the gifts. Ajaw groaned in annoyance "KINICHHHHH! both of you ignored the almighty kh'uhl ajaw!? I swear-! I will sentence you both--!!" Once again, he got stopped by kinich for blurrting out another word, "you should go help kachina and mualani with preparing some stuff. I'll go ahead outside. I dont want you ruined my 'peace and quiet" kinich said while crossing his arms as he headed outside. Ajaw was left fuming with anger, he wanted to say more but guess what? Kinich left without a word or 2. He went with mualani and kachina.
(all he did was sit and drink lemonade while mualani and kachina did half of the work)

After awhile, at midnight/afternoon.....

Everyone showed up to greet the travaler a 'happy birthday' for being able to help them throughout there troubles, and more. Not someone 'particular' though.

The travaler was in awe the momment everyone jumped out of the blue and showered them with a bunch of gifts, some of the gifts we're placed in a different area because it was from different nations, just to be organized.
Mualani was caught up with the travalers birthday, till she didn't realize kinich wasn't here to celebrate? 'Didn't he said he'll come along us, what's stopping him? Isn't he outside?' She thought. She didn't wanna seem to be the type of person to be annoying at all, she was just worried cause she's a friend of his too.
She decided to excuse herself asking the travaler and Paimon, "hey travaler!" She waved at them with a smiley expression. "Can I go outside real quick? Heh, I'll go check up on kinich to see if he's doing okay, I'll get back here, as soon as you know it!" She said, proudly, "it's okay mualani!!! We don't mind." Paimon said happily, and travaler nodded in agreement as well. Mualani waved and walked away

- In Kinichs POV earlier -
He sat down somewhere beside a place near the place where the travalers birthday is celebrated at, his thoughts wandering off away, 'actually, I've never thought about telling anybody about my past experiences.' He thought, as the meomory, of 7 year old him, carrying his dads corpse, helding back his tears, it was his birthday too, which meant that was an another understandable excuse to skip people's birthdays, even his, the meomory just kept replying in his mind, he was just a kid after all. Later on, he sighed deciding to not think about it, nobody comforting him either way and having to suffer a lot of beaten too? He thought, as his mind started to ponder off somewhere else, mualani appeared from his behind, which shooked him a little but he tried not to act so surprised.
"Hey there, kinich!" She waved "can I sit here?" She asked/questionioned, openly, "go ahead, mualani." Yet again, Kinich's tone sounded blunt, but she didn't mind,

they get along quite well, but they don't interact much, either way, there friendship was just 'average', mualani tried to atleast be out-going, but it never suited out with kinich since his personality was serious, which made their friendship look cute, honestly.

Mualani sat down next to him, they began talking, execpt mualani was doing, pretty much.. All the talking, it didn't bother kinich at all, he listened and agreed. After awhile, mualani decided to change the conversation right away, which made Kinichs mind spin "why don't you attend birthdays, kinich?" She asked, genuinely curious, but she atleast tried to hide her curiousity with her cheerful facade/self, that question made kinich glance at her with a seemingly 'I have a lot of words to say, but I can't seem to word it out myself' kind-of-expression, "that's quite a...complicated question" he said trying not to make the conversation between him and mualani awkward. "It's okay! You can tell me, I pretty much don't mind it at all, there's this one time where--" she began talking more and more, and he listened, "oh wait--! I almost forgot, why though?" She quickly changed the topic again which confused him a little as he tried remembering stuff, "Its quite complicated to put it into words, mualani" he said directly at her, as he crossed his arms leaning into something, she tilted her head waiting for him to say more.

He thought about telling her everything, the burden that he's carrying for so long, or just leave it, and change the topic, which he chose the bad decision, obviously. "It's nothing at all, I don't want ajaw terrorizing things, it'll probably ruin the whole birthday party." He said crossing his arms and sighed. "Ah don't worry! Everyone has different ways of bonding with our friends too!" She said with a bright smile,

it made kinich wonder... If only I could've told her, my past experiences, I wouldn't have to carry away this burden I've been holding for years..
