Yarfa had always known the darker side of life. Born into a world where trust was a luxury and power was a currency, she had learned early on that love had no place in the dangerous life of the mafia. She was raised to be strong, ruthless even, to protect her family’s empire. But despite the walls she built around her heart, everything changed the moment she met Alex.
Alex wasn’t like the others in her world. He wasn’t born into crime; he didn’t crave power. He was calm, compassionate, and he had a sense of warmth that melted the ice surrounding Yarfa’s heart. They met by accident—one of those moments when two worlds collide and nothing is ever the same.
At first, Yarfa tried to push him away. She didn’t need distractions, not in her line of work. But Alex was persistent. He saw something in Yarfa that no one else did—a girl who was tired of the violence, the betrayals, and the endless power struggles. Slowly, against her better judgment, she let him in.
For months, they shared secret moments, stolen kisses, and whispered promises. Yarfa had never known happiness like this. With Alex, she felt free. He made her believe that maybe, just maybe, she could have a life outside the mafia, a life filled with love and peace.
But life in the mafia is never simple.
Yarfa’s family, the most feared in the city, discovered their secret. To them, Alex was a threat, an outsider who could ruin everything they had built. Despite Yarfa’s pleas, they gave her a choice: either end it with Alex or lose him forever.
Yarfa was torn. She loved Alex more than anything, but her family’s reach was vast. She knew they would never stop hunting him if she didn’t end it herself. So, with a heavy heart, she made the hardest decision of her life.
One stormy night, she met Alex at their secret place, a quiet dock by the river where they had shared so many beautiful memories. Alex saw the pain in her eyes immediately.
“Yarfa, what’s wrong?” he asked, his voice filled with concern.
She looked away, unable to meet his gaze. “We can’t do this anymore, Alex. This… us… it was never meant to be.”
Alex’s heart shattered. “What are you talking about? I thought we were going to escape this life together. I love you, Yarfa.”
Tears welled up in her eyes, but she forced herself to remain strong. “Love won’t save us, Alex. My world… it will destroy you. I’m letting you go so you can live.”
He grabbed her hand, desperation in his voice. “No, I don’t care about any of that. We can fight this together. Please, don’t do this.”
Yarfa pulled her hand away, her heart breaking with every word. “It’s over, Alex. I can’t risk your life. Forget me. Forget everything.”
Without another word, she turned and walked away, leaving him standing in the rain, shattered and heartbroken. She didn’t look back, knowing that if she did, she would never be able to leave.
For weeks, Yarfa threw herself into her work, trying to bury the pain. But no matter how hard she tried, she couldn’t forget Alex. His absence was a constant ache in her chest, a reminder of everything she had lost.
One night, as she sat in her family’s mansion, a gunshot echoed through the halls. Yarfa’s heart froze. She rushed outside, her worst fears realized. There, on the ground, lay Alex, his lifeless body surrounded by the men she once called family.
“No!” she screamed, running to him, but it was too late. His eyes were closed, his chest no longer rising and falling. Her family had made sure that Alex would never be a threat again.
Yarfa collapsed beside him, sobbing uncontrollably. She had sacrificed their love to protect him, but in the end, it hadn’t mattered. The life she lived had taken everything from her—the only person who had ever made her feel alive, who had made her believe that love could exist even in the darkest of worlds.
As the rain began to fall, mixing with her tears, Yarfa whispered into the silence, “I’m so sorry, Alex. I’m so, so sorry.”
But her words were lost to the night, carried away by the wind, as she was left alone, surrounded by the shadows of a love that never had a chance.
The next morning, Yarfa stood at the same dock where they had shared their final conversation. The sky was grey, just like it had been that night. The weight of Alex’s death crushed her, and the emptiness of her heart swallowed every last piece of hope she had.
Yarfa made a final decision—she couldn’t go on without him. The world she lived in had stolen too much from her, and without Alex, there was no reason to continue fighting. Taking a deep breath, she stepped into the cold, rushing waters of the river. The darkness closed around her, and for the first time in weeks, Yarfa felt a strange peace.
As the water took her under, she whispered one last time, "Alex, I'm coming."
And with that, she disappeared into the depths, joining Alex in the only place they could ever truly be together—beyond the reach of the cruel world that had torn them apart.
The End.
