The scientist woke up, the world was white, it had worked. He picked up his bag and stood up, he observed the white nothingness around him, and after a while, he could make out shapes in the blinding white. The area was baren, nothing but basic, rock like terrain surrounded him, and although he felt alone, he felt watched, as if there was something stalking him. A bead of sweat ran down his forehead as he cautiously began to explore the baren terrain surrounding him. He took a seat on a rock, it was just as hard and as white as everything else, it wasn't quite comfortable, but it was enough for what he wanted to do. He took one of his journals and a pen out of his bag, he proceeded to write "void journal 1" on the cover and open the book, he scrawled upon the smooth paper "day 1, the void is baren, as expected, however, what was not anticipated was the existence of terrain, especially one so natural, I also feel as if I'm being watched, although that might just be the paranoia.". He closed the journal, put it in his bag and continued to walk, he began to note the lack of thirst or hunger, he could only feel exhaustion. He began to notice the world getting darker, white turning to gray gradually, he took shelter under some rocks, and as the world went dark, he took a candle and lit it, he then continued his journal entry "I do not feel hunger or thirst, the only thing it seems I need to manage is sleep, and also finding shelter before dark, I don't know what it is, but darkness here seems hostile." He closed the book and set it and the bag to one side, he noticed how the candle hadn't melted, hadn't faded, he quickly opened the book again and wrote down a note in the corner of the page "note: flames do not extinguish, candles do not melt, it seems as if almost all of time is frozen here". He then lay down, using his scarf to cushion his head, he would put out the flame, but something primal within him told him not to, or else something incomprehensibly terrible would befall him. He closed his eyes, he thought of home, of comfort, and how much he missed it.
