Chapter 4: Chakra Nature

Izuku looked at Jiraiya while writing in his notebook, "Ok so what is each Chakra nature good at? In terms of range."

"Let's see. Some of them are tricky. Every Chakra nature could be used at any range but safety comes into play. Fire style for example. Using Fire Style for up close combat like hand to hand combat is a bad idea. Your own Jutsu could burn you. So let's put range into four stats. Closest to farthest. Up close, close, medium, and long range."

"What's the difference between up close range and close range?"

"Up close is hand to hand. And close range at least six feet apart. Close range makes it so you have the chance to weave hand signs and fire off your Jutsu."

"Ok! So Up Close range you risk giving your opponent an opening to attack while you weave hand signs. And Close range gives you a higher chance to weave hand signs and while you fire off your jutsu if it is fire style it allows you to jump back for a more powerful jutsu."

"Yes! Your picking this stuff up rather quickly Izuku! Your a natural when it comes to learning."

Izuku rubbed his head, "T-Thanks. My mom always said I did pick up new material faster then other kids my age."

"That's good. Now onto each Nature's strength. Lightning Style is good from anywhere from Up Close to Medium range."

"Why not long range?"

"Very few lightning style users are able to use Lightning Jutsu's over long range. None of them hailing from the Land of Fire. All of them hailing from the Land of Lightning or the village hidden in the clouds. And even then very few have been seen using long range Lightning Jutsu's consistently. The reason behind that is Lightning Chakra is constantly changing. It doesn't have a solid form. So the further the range the harder it is to control the chakra."

"Oh! Makes a bit of sense."

"Next of Earth Style. Earth Style's offensive techniques are really good at Close to Medium Range. There defensive techniques are really good at any range."

"Wait so earth style has offensive and defensive techniques? Do the others have that?"

"All of them do but Earth Style is not a very offensive chakra nature. It is meant for defense. Why do you think the hidden stone village is so hard to even infiltrate. It's because there defenses far exceed any other village."

"Makes sense. What about Water style?"

"Water Style. Medium to Long range is where water jutsu shines. Water style does have a couple defensive jutsus but that is not where it is focused."

"Hm. I wanna look more into that. What about Fire Style?"

"I touched on that already but Close to Medium Range. The issue with Fire Style Jutsu's is that once the jutsu has been cast is that they are incredibly hard to control. And the ones where you make the jutsu from your mouth like Fugaku's fire jutsu once it's out control over it is next to none. Granted the ones you don't do that you have better control over it but it isn't anything compared to other chakra natures."

"So Fire Style while being purely offensive is very difficult to control. Is that right?"

"Yep. Now onto Wind Style. Wind Style is kind of a tricky one. It is similar to Lightning Style in which in can do all ranges but it's reversed."

"Reversed? What do you mean? If it's reversed then wouldn't it be bad at all ranges?"

Jiraiya chuckled, "Poor phrasing my bad. I meant that while Lightning style is good all all ranges but struggles at long range."
