The harbor was a labyrinth of warehouses and abandoned shipping containers, stretching across the fog-draped docks like a forgotten relic of another era. The distant sound of waves crashing against the piers echoed through the chilly night air, creating an eerie soundtrack for what was about to unfold. Adrian stood at the edge of the docks, his sharp gaze focused on the horizon, his mind running through every possible scenario. Behind him, his team of highly trained men awaited his command, each one armed and ready for the battle ahead.

Eva watched Adrian from a distance, her heart racing. She had never seen him like this before—so quiet, so tense. His usual composure had given way to a cold, almost predatory intensity. The meeting with the Serpent was their only chance to stop Seraphina's plan before it was too late. If they failed, it wouldn't just be a loss of power—it would be the end of everything they had fought for.

"Are you sure about this?" Greg asked, stepping beside Adrian. He had been Adrian's right-hand man for years, but even he could sense that something about tonight was different. The tension in the air was palpable, almost suffocating.

Adrian's eyes never left the water. "There's no other choice. The Serpent is the key to all of this."

Greg frowned. "And if he's just a decoy? If this is another trap?"

Adrian finally turned to Greg, his expression unreadable. "Then we deal with it. But Seraphina's out of options. She's too smart to put everything into a bluff."

Greg nodded, though doubt still lingered in his eyes. He glanced over his shoulder at Eva, who was standing by one of the black SUVs parked nearby. "She shouldn't be here. It's too dangerous."

Adrian's jaw tightened. "She stays. I'm not leaving her out of this."

Greg didn't argue, but his concern was clear. He had seen the lengths to which Seraphina would go. The Serpent was an unknown factor, someone even Adrian knew little about—and that made him dangerous.

As if sensing the shift in the air, Adrian's phone buzzed in his pocket. He pulled it out, glancing at the screen. It was a message from one of his scouts posted at the other end of the docks.

They're here.

Adrian's gaze hardened. "It's time."

The Serpent Emerges

The docks were silent as Adrian, Greg, and the rest of their team made their way toward the meeting point. The coordinates Rourke had provided led them to an old, rusted warehouse that had long since been abandoned. Its windows were shattered, and the steel doors hung off their hinges, creaking softly in the wind.

Eva stayed close to Adrian, her heart pounding with each step. She had insisted on coming, despite Adrian's initial protests. Seraphina had become her enemy too, and she couldn't stand by while he faced her alone. She was done being on the sidelines.

Inside the warehouse, the air was thick with tension. Adrian's men spread out, positioning themselves strategically around the perimeter, their weapons drawn but not yet raised. They were prepared for anything—an ambush, a fight, or even a full-scale assault.

But what they found waiting for them was far from what they had expected.

Standing in the center of the vast, empty space was a tall, slender man dressed in a perfectly tailored black suit. His hair was slicked back, and his dark eyes glittered with a cold, reptilian intelligence. There was something about him that immediately set Adrian on edge—a stillness, a sense of control that bordered on arrogance.

This was the Serpent.

"Adrian Thorn," the Serpent said, his voice smooth and unhurried as if they were meeting for a business negotiation rather than a deadly confrontation. "I must admit, I've been looking forward to this."
