I pushed myself up from the bench, exhaustion etched on my face. My gaze drifted to the entrance, anticipation simmering beneath the surface.

"She must be on her way." I told myself for don't know how many times.

Pacing back and forth, my eyes strayed repeatedly to the doorway, longing to catch a glimpse of her. Each passing moment amplified my expectation, my heart suspended in a cycle of hope and frustration.

Dark clouds had consumed the sky, and the weather was rapidly deteriorating. The temperature dropped sharply, carrying a hint of fury. I am worried about her catching cold due to this weather change.

My gaze remained fixed on the entrance, filled with anticipation. Sighing, I settled back onto the bench. The vibrant lights surrounding me served as a stark reminder that I never frequented places like this.

My life had never afforded me such opportunities.

Time crawled at a glacial pace. Seconds turned into minutes, and minutes into hours. I remained rooted to the bench, waiting for her arrival. My gaze drifted to my wristwatch: 10:47 p.m. – nearly five hours had passed.

I pulled out my phone to dial her number, only to be greeted by no network. "Fuck this shity network!!" I muttered a curse under my breath. Restless, I paced back and forth, but the signal remained elusive.

Eventually, I returned to the bench, forcing myself to calm down. Another hour ticked by, each passing moment eroding my hope. Doubt crept in.

Was she really coming?

I exhaled deeply, my gaze drifting to the tulips I had bought for her. I gently stroked the bouquet, a faint smile tugging at the corner of my lips.

My bird, my prettiest little bird.

My eyes wandered, and I spotted a cigarette box on the bench's edge, nearly hidden from view. Instinctively, I averted my gaze. No, I vowed, refusing to succumb.
