Running Errands

Thankfully, Wingdings was just as weak to their pleading looks as Izuku was and both families got the privilege of spending the day out. Toriel was kind enough to help them all pack lunches with what they had in the fridge and soon everyone was on their way. Sans and Papyrus carried their belongings in a similar manner to the Dreemurs. Sans had a blue knapsack with stars sewn all over it while Papyrus had a red backpack with flames decorating the bottom. They were both very fashionable and Izuku was almost jealous. However, he also rather liked the idea of fitting in with the family so he didn't voice it. Though, that's not to say he didn't consider what his carry-on bag might look like in the future.

Izuku didn't know enough about himself to say for sure what that would be.

"so, what kind of errands are you running today?" Sans asked. "Well, Father wanted to speak with the doctor about something, which I'm sure he'll be doing for a while," Sans laughed. "Mother wanted to get groceries, I wish to find a few new books to read, and Asriel wants a new board game to play," Izuku told him. Sans hummed, "in that case, we should probably go for the books first, then the games, and we can get her groceries on the way back. don't want anything to spoil, right?" he said. Izuku thought it was a sound plan and nodded. "welp, that settles it then. to the land of words and nerds!" he cheered, getting him a good laugh from them all.

The journey wasn't too far, but it was certainly fun. Sans led the group like a herd of cats, all the little ones following the leader while the parents talked in the back. Papyrus pointed out all the historical landmarks and waypoints while Sans told fascinating stories about each of them. Izuku listened to every word with great interest while Asriel lamented over the abrupt history lesson. The Underground was full of so many stories, many of which were carved into its very walls. It was all so amazing. Thinking about how deep their culture is to go so far back filled him with awe.

Finally, after following the winding path of Memory Lane (as Izuku would like to call it) they made it to a bustling town. In it was a shop full of expertly crafted trinkets that sat neatly on a shelf. Hanging along the walls were masterfully woven bags and clothes, as well as a blanket, a plush, and a rug. Next to that was a tall and oddly shaped building with the word "Hotel" written over the entrance, which was a fancy archway. Across from that was what looked like an open-air diner. Izuku could smell the food from where he was standing and the scent alone had him longing for a taste.

There were some more buildings down the chiseled road, but Izuku couldn't make out the signs very well. The entire place looked very old yet modern at the same time. The overall design looked like that one storybook about Ancient Japan and the doors and arches were a nice touch as well. Most if not all doorways had a row of large stone beads hanging from the top that would rattle as you walk through them. The shop had red and cream-colored beads that corresponded perfectly with the colors inside. A red tent hung over the entrance decorated with the same little patterns they'd painted onto the larger beads. The cream walls in the shop were adorned with an assortment of small tools and toys that reflected the cream-colored beads with thin colorful stripes painted on them.

The hotel had cyan and black beads that were the same size and length with a slightly smaller purple bead at the bottom of each string. The cyan ones had a picture of a yellow sun, the black ones had a little white moon, and the purple ones had small yellow five-pointed stars all around them. The design was meant to represent the day-night cycle, and the purple ones (if he was reading the sign right) were the hotel's rating. Apparently, three stars meant it was very well-liked. The diner also had this same pattern but with red and orange beads on top. The red ones had black lettering on them that said Grill and Bake, while the orange ones had a small white flame on them. Izuku wondered what the fish here tasted like.

Sans guided them further down the road to a small red building about the size of a large shed with the word Library written on it. There weren't any beads on this one, but rather a sliding door. Sans slid the door aside to reveal a very small but cute room. To the left was the librarian, a green lizard monster wearing a caramel knitted sweater, standing behind an L-shaped stone rail table with a record book laid on top alongside an ink bottle and feather quill. In the back was the bookshelf, which was rather tall and took up the entire wall. Thankfully, it had a rolling ladder built in that would help him reach the ones up top. Sitting in the middle of the room was a large empty table with small sitting pillows and a fluffy rug under it. A very cute design, in his opinion.
