A/N: just a little short one before I head to my school's fall play that they're performing, because I wanna go support them!!
Travis Kelce sat on the edge of his bed, staring at his phone. He had been dating Taylor Swift for almost a year now, and things had been magical at first. They had met at a summer camp, forming a strong bond that quickly blossomed into a romantic relationship. But lately, Travis had been feeling a growing distance between them. It wasn't that he didn't care for Taylor; he just felt like their lives were pulling them in different directions.
He sighed deeply, running a hand through his hair. Breaking up with Taylor Swift wasn't something he had ever imagined doing, and the thought of it filled him with dread. How could he tell her that he wanted to end things without hurting her? He knew she was incredibly sensitive and that any sign of trouble in their relationship would devastate her.
Unbeknownst to Travis, Taylor had already sensed that something was off. She had noticed the way he had been more distant, the lack of enthusiasm in his voice when they talked, and the way he avoided making plans for the future. Taylor was intuitive and had a knack for picking up on the smallest of changes. She had spent many sleepless nights wondering if Travis was thinking about ending their relationship.
One evening, Taylor decided to confront her fears. She invited Travis over to her apartment, planning to have an honest conversation about their relationship. Travis, unaware of Taylor's suspicions, agreed to come over, thinking it was just another casual evening together.
As soon as Travis walked in, Taylor could see the tension in his eyes. She took a deep breath and decided to get straight to the point. "Travis, we need to talk," she said, her voice trembling slightly.
Travis felt his heart sink. He knew that tone. He had heard it before, and it usually meant something serious. "What's going on, Taylor?" he asked, trying to keep his voice steady.
Taylor looked down at her hands, gathering her thoughts. "I've noticed that you've been distant lately. You don't seem as happy as you used to be. Is there something you want to tell me?"
Travis felt a lump form in his throat. He had been dreading this moment, but now that it was here, he felt an overwhelming sense of relief. "Taylor, I... I don't know how to say this, but I've been feeling like we're growing apart. I care about you so much, but I don't think we're right for each other anymore."
Taylor's eyes filled with tears, but she nodded, already knowing what he was going to say. "I thought so," she whispered. "I've felt it too. But I didn't want to believe it."
Travis reached out to take her hand, but she pulled away, needing space to process her emotions. "I'm so sorry, Taylor. I never wanted to hurt you."
Taylor wiped her tears, trying to stay strong. "I know, Travis. And I appreciate your honesty. It's just... hard to accept."
They sat in silence for a few moments, both grappling with the reality of their situation. Eventually, Taylor stood up and walked over to the window, looking out at the city lights. "I guess this is goodbye, then," she said softly.
Travis stood up as well, feeling a mix of sadness and relief. "I guess it is. But I hope we can still be friends. You mean a lot to me, Taylor."
Taylor turned to face him, a small, sad smile on her lips. "I'd like that, Travis. But it's going to take some time."
Travis nodded, understanding the need for space. He walked over to the door, pausing for a moment before turning back to look at her one last time. "Take care, Taylor."
"You too, Travis," she replied, her voice barely above a whisper.
As Travis walked out of the apartment, he felt a weight lift off his shoulders. It wasn't the outcome he had hoped for, but he knew it was the right decision for both of them. And as Taylor watched him leave, she knew that while it was the end of their romantic relationship, it didn't have to be the end of their connection. They would both find their way, even if it meant doing so separately.
