There was a heartbeat
but all I heard was silence
In that moment, my hopes took flight
Only to realise, you weren't the right light.
I fell for you too fast, too hard,
Ignoring all the warning signs
My heart overruled my head
And led me down a path unkind.
For loving the wrong person
Is a bitter pill to swallow
It poisons the heart and soul
And leaves one feeling hollow.
But even in the depths of pain
I hold onto one saving grace
That though I loved the wrong person
I will find love in the right place.
So I take this heartbreak in stride
And learn the lessons I must
Even though I stumbled and fell
I know I'll find love that's just.
