I waited for the class to drag in. It was the end of the week. I wasn't necessarily hiding from Logan, but I also didn't want to confront her if I could avoid it. I was embarrassed she pushed me off of her the other night. My ego was bruised and I rubbed the furrow out of my brows. I would get over it. She made it clear she wasn't interested in me. And I wasn't quite sure I was interested in her either. I was drunk, I reminded myself.
I sat there moments longer before groaning. I had forgotten I'd given the class time off to recharge. Yesterday I had pushed them far enough they were gasping by the end. I was overcompensating after the duel in the courtyard.
I pushed away from my desk and headed for the door, and just as I opened it Logan surprised me. I jumped. "Logan, what are you doing?" I asked, flustered.
"I heard you dismissed class, and I'm not going to let your offer go to waste." Her smile was mischievous.
I gaped at her before closing my mouth. I couldn't believe she was still game for my offer acceptance after she rejected me. "I suppose I keep my promises," I said, my voice laced with reluctance. She grinned wider.
"Well then come on, we're already late." She winked and turned, a signal for me to follow.
The classroom was not far and when I stepped in, the class chattering came to a stop. I smiled weakly at them. "Professor Clarinna!" One of the students said excitedly. I smiled genuinely at that.
"Professor Clarinna will be joining our class today as a witness," Logan explained.
The students looked at us expectantly and Logan's smile was full of charm. "Today we're going to practice protecting ourselves during deflection. And yes, I know that sounds the same, but there is a difference in deflecting a harmful spell directed at you and actually protecting yourself at the same time."
I went rigid. I could assume what she was referring to, and it gave me mixed emotions. I was already against defensive magic, but maybe this is what my sister would have needed in order to save her life. I squirmed in my place but recognized this was important for me to witness.
"Gina, would you step in the front of the class?" Logan asked. Gina beamed and rushed from her desk to the front of the room. A smile pulled from my face at her eagerness. These students were almost into the real world, but they maintained the excitement of living young still.
"Okay, when I cast this spell, it will not be harmful, but I want you to deflect it anyway." Gina nodded and took her stance. Logan held her own then waved a spell at her. Immediately Gina deflected, to which Logan deflected back. She was not expecting this and it took its effect. Gina became laughing uncontrollably, tears falling down her cheeks. Logan quickly stopped the spell and Gina lurched over to catch her breath. When her face rose again she laughed on her own accord and the class joined in. I felt uncomfortable but stayed put.
Logan continued. "Now, before you deflect, I want you to concentrate on your body. Imagine blue light enveloping your entire being. Imagine it as an impenetrable defense. It is okay if you don't get this at first."
Gina nodded, still full of determination, and closed her eyes, breathing in before nodding again to signal she was ready. Again, Logan passed the spell, Gina deflected, Logan deflected back, and this time when the spell reached her, it hit her and bounced back to Logan, but Logan had protected herself too and it seemed to fizzle out.
My mouth hung open. Why wasn't this widely practiced...
The class seemed stunned into silence, then began clapping and cheering, some standing from their seats. Logan joined in, even though she was the one being praised, she clapped like everyone had succeeded. My face flushed as I watched her full lips smiling grandly and I couldn't deny I was smitten in that moment. That had to have been old magic... something near forgotten. Something so valuable Logan must have found to show me how things could be different. My eyes welled, but I held my composure.
Class continued until everyone was able to complete the training. The day went by, and I couldn't stop watching everyone's progress. This would have changed my sister's life. My life. Logan didn't seem to mind that I stayed, and in fact seemed to encourage it. When the last students trickled out, Logan walked over to me. I didn't give her the chance to say a word before I pushed the door shut and pulled her to me. We were breast to breast and Logan held my waist like the other night, but didn't shove me away. She pulled me closer.
"That was amazing..." I whispered. "Thank you." I paused, realizing I may be wrong for pulling her so close, but before I could open my mouth Logan spoke.
"I'm sorry I rejected you the other night. I didn't want to take advantage of you while you were... a bit inebriated." A corner of her lips pulled up. "And after you told me your story, I did some rigorous research. Something from my private books that were willed to me recently. It was like a sign." She looked heady with enthusiasm. "If you still want me, I'm yours." Her voice dropped an octave and my breath hitched before I nodded. I let go of all of our differences. I wanted her, not just her brilliant mind, but all of it.
Then her lips were on mine. She pressed me into the door and locked it with quick movement before holding my face and deepening the kiss. Her lips were so soft, so soothing I could get lost in them. I knew this was wrong in the current setting, but everything else felt right. Our mouths moved together like two rivers joining. Her tongue slipped into my mouth and I returned it. She sucked on it lightly before letting go and I moaned without meaning to. She quickly brought her hand up to cover my mouth. We were still on college premises.
Logan guided me to her desk and nudged me to sit on it. Then she spread my legs with a knee and kissed me again before pulling back. We were so in the wrong for this but I was intoxicated with her. "You have to be quiet," she whispered. Then she gently rubbed her thigh between my legs and my walls tightened down below. Wearing a skirt made so much sense now. She continued with the pressure and I had to use every might of my being not to moan against her lips. Her hand caught my breast under my shirt and she massaged the soft tissue as I came closer to peaking. I looped my arms around her neck as she guided herself to the floor, breaking contact with my swollen lips and my core ached at the missing touch. When she settled between my legs she looked up at me through those long, dark eyelashes and I pushed my hair back before nodding at her slowly.
She lifted my skirt higher and higher until I was exposed. She licked her lips at the sight of my very wet folds then leaned in to kiss them. My eyes rolled back as she began licking up my slit torturously slow over and over again. I clasped a hand over my mouth and hooked a leg over her shoulder as she sucked on the delicate bud. My breathing came through my nose faster and she continued sucking until my legs shook and I came. My brows furrowed together as my mouth opened in a silent scream and finally I pulled her by the shirt back to my lips. We collided, our mouths desperate for each other as I began undoing her belt and pulled the material down along with her undergarments. My fingers found her core and she was just as soaked as I ran my fingers through her folds before finding that one tantalizing spot. I rubbed tight circles and Logan braced herself against the desk on either side of me, her knuckles turning white. I kept rubbing until she pressed closer to me and was undone with a gasp in the air. She leaned fully against me now, both our breathing heavy.
"Come sleep with me tonight?" I said after we both caught our breath. She kissed me again.
"Yes."

Winter was in full swing. Logan and I were officially together, but we kept it mostly to ourselves. It wasn't against the rules for professors to date, but we preferred privacy. Classes continued as usual except we began combining our classes often. Dark and light. I realized its importance and took away my own stigma towards it. It felt nice.
Class dismissed, winter break beginning. We decided to travel and explore during the break. Everything was perfect. We were happy and in love. I never thought it would be this way, but I wouldn't have it any other way.
