A/n's pov
The king and queen had just left the grand hall, their silhouettes disappearing into the distance as they marched off to join the raging war. The atmosphere was tense, the weight of responsibility heavy in the air.
"We can’t just stand here. We need to help them," Soobin said, gripping Yeonjun’s arm.
Yeonjun gave a determined nod. "You're right. We can’t let them fight alone."
Just as they were about to follow in the king and queen’s footsteps, y/n rushed forward, blocking their way, her face full of desperation.
"Y/n, what are you doing?" Soobin asked, his brow furrowing in confusion.
"Don't go," y/n pleaded, her voice trembling. "They can handle it. You don't have to put yourselves in danger."
"Y/n, we can't hide," Yeonjun replied, his tone soft yet resolute. "It’s not just a war; it's a battle to protect our kingdom. I'm the crown prince—I can’t abandon my people."
"And I’m going with him," Soobin added, his gaze shifting to Yeonjun, filled with love and determination. "I’ll follow him wherever he goes."
"Please," y/n’s voice cracked, her eyes glistening with tears. "Don’t do this. Nothing good will come of it. I’m begging you—stay here."
"Y/n, we can’t just stand by and do nothing," Soobin said gently, trying to comfort her. "The kingdom is at risk."
"No! You don't understand! They can handle the battle on their own. You two don’t need to go!" y/n’s voice grew louder, more desperate, as she clutched Soobin’s arm, trying to hold him back. "Let me go in your place!"
Soobin shook his head, stepping closer to her. "We can’t let you do that. You’re young and—"
"I don’t care about that!" y/n interrupted, her voice nearly breaking. "Please, don’t go. If something happens to you both…"
Seeing how adamant she was, Yeonjun subtly signaled the maid standing nearby. She approached swiftly and, with a firm grip, pulled y/n away, preventing her from stopping them any further.
"We'll be fine," Soobin said softly, glancing back at y/n, who struggled against the maid's hold. "Please, don’t worry."
Soobin and Yeonjun turned and began walking toward the palace entrance. The weight of their decision pressed on them, but their sense of duty was stronger.
"No, please! If you go, it’ll all be in vain to why I even came here!" y/n cried out, her words stopping Soobin in his tracks.
He turned around, his face a mask of confusion. "What do you mean?"
Before he could get an answer, y/n slipped free from the maid’s grasp. With quick precision, she delivered a swift strike to the maid’s neck, rendering her unconscious. The maid collapsed, her limp body hitting the floor with a soft thud.
Without hesitation, y/n sprinted toward them, her heart pounding. She grabbed Soobin’s arm once more. "Please! Just listen to me!" she begged, her grip trembling.
Soobin stared at her, his heart heavy with worry. "Y/n, we’ll come back. I promise. You don’t have to be scared."
He gently pried her fingers from his arm, his gaze soft as he tried to reassure her. But before they could take another step, something glinted in the distance. An arrow, sharp and fast, cut through the air, heading straight for Yeonjun.
Y/n’s eyes widened in horror. "No, no, no… this can’t be happening!" she whispered frantically.
Yeonjun froze, his eyes locking onto the deadly projectile. Before he could move, Soobin instinctively threw himself in front of his boyfriend, shielding him from the arrow’s path. But before it could reach him, y/n, moving with startling speed, darted in front of them both.
The arrow pierced her chest with a sickening sound.
"Agh…" y/n gasped, clutching her chest as blood began to stain her clothes. "It… it hurts more than I thought."
Soobin’s eyes widened in horror as he realized what had just happened. His breath caught in his throat as he saw y/n stumble back, the arrow lodged deep in her chest. She swayed for a moment before collapsing.
"Y/n!" Soobin cried out, rushing forward and catching her just in time. He knelt down, pulling her into his lap, his hands trembling as he held her.
"Why… Why did you do that?" Soobin asked, his voice breaking as tears filled his eyes. "You didn’t have to—"
Y/n gave him a weak smile, her face pale. "I’m okay," she whispered, her voice barely audible.
"No, you’re not! You… You saved me,us, but now…" Soobin’s tears fell freely, his heart shattering at the sight of her suffering. He looked up at Yeonjun, who had fallen to his knees beside them, his face was pale.
"We need to get her to a doctor. Now!" Yeonjun said urgently, his voice cracking.
But y/n raised a hand, stopping them. "It’s too late," she whispered, her breath shallow. "There’s no time… Just stay with me… please, I have to tell you guys something."
Soobin held her closer, his tears falling onto her pale face. "No, don’t say that… You’re going to be okay. We can still save you."
Y/n shook her head weakly, her strength fading. "I… I wanted to protect you… both of you, you can't save me this arrow has poison ."
Yeonjun leaned closer, tears welling in his eyes as he placed a hand on her shoulder. "You shouldn’t have done this… We’ll never forgive ourselves."
Y/n smiled faintly. "I had to… I couldn’t let you both… go, but i didn't expect it'll happen now.."
