The Proposal

Chapter 2

Still unable to fully process the situation, Earn Sanithada went home from work that day filled with much anxiety. She knew that she would have to discuss this with her parents who would likely not approve of the situation due to its absurd nature. But she knew that her mind was pretty much made up. When she reached home she decided to just rip the band aid off and tell them

"You are getting married?" Earn's mother was shocked

Earn nodded "I know it seems absurd. But I think it should be fine. It is only temporary!"

"But..." Earn's mother was trying to find the right words.

"I think you should not get involved in their family business honey" Earn's father chimed in "I don't think Mrs. Thannanusak will be very happy with this"

"She won't find out" Earn said "Besides. Mor Fahlada already told her I am her girlfriend"

"Well then tell her you broke up before the marriage" Earn's mother said

"But, I don't see the problem with it. It will only be temporary. Besides we can use the money for mom's treatment"

Earn's mother had cancer. It was early stages but treatment was expensive.

"We can find other ways to raise funds sweetheart" Earn's mother said cupping her daughter's face gently.

"Your mother is right. You are young, please don't worry too much about money. This is extremely risky. Once you marry the doctor you will legally get involved with their family which can create a lot of your problems for you"

Her parents were right. But Earn knew they did not have many sources for financing her mother's treatment. Taking on debt would be bad for them in the long run. Besides, she had already agreed to marry Fahlada

"Don't worry about it. Khun Mor Fahlada will take care of it"

Her father shook his head "But you hardly know her"

Earn smiled "I know she has a good heart. I trust her"

"Well well well" Rossarin greeted Earn as she walked into work that morning "Good morning Miss Earn Sanithada. Or should I call you Mrs. Earn Thannanusak"

Earn was taken aback "Huh...how do you know?"

Rossarin chuckled, "Everyone knows. The director of the hospital has shared on the hospital's official social media that her daughter, is getting married to an Earn Sanithada"

Earn grabbed Rossarin's arm and dragged her into a corner "What do you mean?? They didn't tell me they were going to announce it this soon"

"Um...can you tell me what is going on? How are you marrying Fahlada? Have you secretly been having an affair with her all this time? Is this all not a mistake?" Rossarin asked, suddenly panicked

"Huh...I wish. I haven't. She just asked me yesterday to marry her. It's kind of an agreement that we have, but you can't tell that to anyone"

"Huh, an agreement?"

Earn proceeded to explain the entire situation to Rossarin who also took some minutes to process and understand everything

"I am surprised that you agreed. This seems like a weird situation...I don't even know what I would do. Your parents are ok with this?"

"It took me hours to convince them but eventually they said they trust me to make the right decision"

"Which is getting into this arranged marriage situation"

Earn nodded with a smile "Exactly"

"For the money?" Rossarin asked

"Yes. It is a large sum. We need it for my mom's treatment"
