"Is that seriously the only job you guys could offer?" I asked once more to the lady behind the counter. The old lady just looked down at me with her glasses right bellow her cheek bones and scowled. I gasped, her scowl wasn't the problem but her cheekbones were; she was old enough for them to actually be show-able anyways.
"Yes, so if you want, take it or leave it" She rolled her chair over to the computer and started typing up other stuff. Maybe other important things.
Though, if I knew the only job I had to make money around here was to be a maid, I would've never came here to South Korea.
"I came here to study abroad" I mumbled, hoping she wasn't able to listen. Sighing, I looked up at all the pictures she had on the wall to keep my mind off the situation.
It was actually an amazing sight, some of the pictures were of girls with bands from who knows where, others just girls posing for a spot to be on the wall. Taking a good look at them though, from sitting down anyways, I couldn't recognize any specific one of the bands or if these girls were some type of celebrities. Yet, in the bottom of each picture it had a band name in big bold letters.
Super Junior, Miss A, T-ara, MBLAQ, Boyfriend and even SHINee.
Oh I got it! All these girls is this one old lady here, right?
Smiling at my achievement, or what I thought was a success in figuring out, I glanced back at the lady.
"Is that you in those pictures?" I asked before looking back at the wide variety of photos in front of me.
"No, those are my workers" She lifted up her glasses back into it's regular place and rolled over to write something on a billboard.
Furrowing my eyebrows I breathed in just to whisper out a quick 'Close enough'.
A few moments more of this awkward silence and I would just go insane. I don't want to be a maid. I can't even clean my own room once a week. Maybe it will only be a job once a week? I get paid doing it anyways, right?
"So..." I started off to get the ladies attention, once she turned I then continued, "if I take this job who will I work for?" Just the clarify my curiosity on the pictures, I lifted myself up from my chair and walked around the little room.
It was true. Every single picture had a different maid with each band there was. Darn this lady, she makes business after all.
"Well, you will have to figure that out for yourself once you sign up" She rolled over to her desk and got some stack of papers. She then rolled back to me and handed the papers with an explanation on what each one of them signify.
Looking down at all those stack of papers though, my only response was a gulp.
"Ms., I came to South Korea to study abroad not to be a maid" I stated. The lady looked up at me with narrowed eyes. Great, a serious lady means bad news.
"No money doesn't get you anywhere you know" She went back to the computer and typed up on it again.
Sighing, I looked up at the pictures.
"Is the job really hard or..." I faded off. The lady just snickered.
"What job isn't hard" She typed up something before looking back at me. "You're lucky you at least know some kind of Korean and understand it" She got up from her spot and came to stand in front of me. Terrified, I sat back down on the original chair I was once glued on seconds ago. She chuckled and took a picture of me on the chair.
"Now hurry up. I don't have all day" She put her phone away and handed me a pen before siting back down on her rolling chair.
I wanted to ask what was that picture she took for but I was too scared to even say a word. Laying back on my seat to get myself comfortable, I looked at the stack of heavy papers my hand was holding ever so strongly before breifly scrolling through it. One part though caught my attention.
