Chapter 4
~Piggy Back Ride~
Yesterday, I spent the whole afternoon rearranging my dorm a little. I organized all the groceries. And luckily, I didn't need to go to the market again, because Mr. Yang already had bought every necessity.
Which means I'd survive, at least for the next couple of days.
Today I have been quite lazy, but got just enough discipline to hop out of my bed and go for a walk around the streets of Busan, though it was already slightly dark outside. I've been here a couple of times before, so I already know how Busan looked.
As I exit my rented apartment and enter the elevator I check my phone for any new messages from my friends. From the corner of my eye, I can see that someone has entered. It's my landlord. Again.
"I swear if we get stuck again" I mumble under my breath which he obviously heard because I hear him chuckle slightly.
Inwardly, I roll my eyes. His presence somewhat makes me feel the need to avoid him. I don't know why it even bothers me so much to keep my distance from boys...oh right..one's cheated on me.
As I exit the lift he speaks up "If you need advice for sightseeing, feel free to ask me. I know Busan like the back of my hand"
I raise a brow and smile "Oh, you do? But I'm actually not here for sightseeing. I-" I pause, not wanting to tell him the exact reason "I'm just here for some walks and enjoying the coffee. So have a good day."
I don't wait for his response anymore and curtly nod, not looking him in the eyes before I turn around and go.
I walk around Busan, my head deep in thoughts. For the fifth time they shift towards a certain Mr. Yang again, and I can't seem to shake them off.
I decide to enter a bar I saw on my way, now sipping on my ordered soju. I highly missed the refreshing and sour taste it leaves.
Groaning, I bury my head in my hands, my thoughts shifting to my landlord again.
I'm so mean.
My mind has reminded me again of yesterday. Maybe I'm exaggerating but I'm used to always being friendly and respectful.
As mentioned, yesterday I was home rearranging things...
...what I didn't mention was that it wasn't during the entire day...
I went outside once to buy a book I wanted to read so bad, though when I came back to my door I froze.
My landlord.
He was humming a song, my favorite song to be exact, and didn't notice me. Luckily.
Sighing, I quickly accelerated my speed.
I knew he would notice me at some point because he was living next to me and he was currently heading to his apartment. Next to me. Oh God.
I averted my eyes. If I don't look at him, he won't see me, I was stupid to think.
And when he did, and even called my name with his velvety, happy-sounding voice, I
ignored him, fumbled out my key, quickly turned it inside the lock, opened the door, and slammed it shut without a word, before finally sinking to the floor as I clutched
onto my shirt, my heart running marathons beneath it.
