Chapter 2: Bocchi The Monster!

Kita-chan and I ended up spending the entire lunch break panicking together.

When the bell rang, we headed back to class, looking worn out and exhausted.

"Hmm? What's wrong with you two? Your clothes are a mess and you're red in the face... Ah, I get it now~"

"Sasasa-san...! I think you're making some kind of mistake..."

Sasaki-san, Kita-chan's longtime friend who always teased me, didn't miss a beat and started teasing me again.

"Sattsu... Go easy on Hitori-chan. She's going through a rough time right now," Kita-chan said, as she wiped a tear from her eye.

I appreciated the concern, but she was acting way too dramatic about this.

"O-Oh... Sorry about that, Gotoh..."

Another misunderstanding had formed.

After convincing Sasaki-san that nothing tragic was going on with me, we returned to our seats as class resumed.

The whole time, I was barely paying attention to the lesson. My mind was stuck on the guitarhero fiasco.

Should I just quit the channel? I already had Kessoku band to focus on, and guitarhero wasn't really connected to that. After all, I vowed to keep the two things separate.

At the same time, the ad revenue I received from the guitarhero channel was an important source of income, especially since our expenditures as a band were steadily increasing. We were even saving up to buy a van, which Nijika-chan and Ryo-san were working hard to earn their licenses to drive.

Well, at least Nijika-chan was working hard. I heard that Ryo-san was just wasting time reading street racing manga and trying out reckless drifts on the practice course.

After zoning out through most of the class, I followed Kita-chan to Starry for work, a routine that had become habitual to me in the past year and a half.

When we arrived at Starry, Nijika-chan approached me, holding up her phone.

"Bocchi, why am I seeing you on Issosta?! You're some kinda fashion icon now?!"

Manager also walked up to me, holding a notepad and a pen.

"Bocchi-chan, can I have your autograph?"

"How does news spread this quickly?!" I yelled. "C-Curse this internet age!"

Ryo-san came through the door, the last one to arrive as always. She looked at me as I was surrounded by everyone. "Bocchi sure is popular today," she said, raising a brow.

Since Ryo-san wasn't the type to look at the normie side of Issosta, she didn't know about what happened.

"What are you gonna do now, Bocchi-chan?" Nijika-chan said, giving me a concerned look. "At this rate, you're gonna get exposed eventually."

Manager sighed and placed down a towel she was using to wipe the counters. "Listen, Bocchi-chan. As an adult, I feel like I should tell you that it's better to come clean instead of keeping a lie going. It hurts to tell the truth now, but..."

"No, Hitori-chan! Your social media image is the most important thing in your life! You need to protect your image at all costs!"

Manager clutched her heart and let out a pained groan, as she realized how different her values were compared to that of a modern highschool girl.

After work, we started our band practice, but I was too out of it to focus. Nijika-chan noticed and stopped practice, calling for a break. "Bocchi-chan, are you still worried about your guitarhero thing?"
