TODAY'S the day you're officially moving to UConn and becoming a Husky. Once you were able to gather enough money, scholarships, and offers, you were gone from Iowa in no time. You have no hatred towards Iowa, of course not, but you never wanted to settle there to begin with. Although you'll miss the team, you're ready to move on.
You had previously met a few of the UConn teammates through your ex girlfriend, making it easier to walk through those doors with some familiar faces. One person you're not ready to see is the ex girlfriend, Paige.
You and her met in high school and were inseparable ever since. You were both able to make it on the USA team together, tying your bond with her even stronger and eventually leading you both to start a romantic relationship.
The relationship had lasted a little longer than 2 years and you were happier than ever and when it was time to split ways, the relationship still stuck. It was durable at first, but when time passed, it broke you guys.
Firmly admitted, you and Paige have gone through a handful of ups and downs, but never let it get in the way of the relationship. But ever since social media took over, that statement shortly changed after rumors continued to spread like wildfire.
Due to your schedule not aligning with Paiges, this caused an immense amount of distant between you two. So when the rumors finally made it to both you and Paige, she decided to listen to them instead of you.
The relationship fell into a million pieces and was quite impossible to repair so you decided to briefly move on. It was hard to say the least, but every time you find yourself thinking about Paige, you pull yourself back to reality and remind yourself what really happened.
But still, the question always lingered in the back of your mind. If she was so eager to break up with you, did she ever love you? If not, how was she able to keep up the act for so long?
You take a deep breath in as you walk out the airport to find your Uber. The cold crisp weather breezes through your body and it finally hits you.
You've made it to Connecticut, all by yourself.
The Uber took some time but luckily not long enough to drive you to insanity. You quickly exit the car and grab your suitcases, stopping the Uber driver from waiting any longer.
You roll your stuff into the apartment building in relief. You've finally arrived to what you've been dreaming of for years. You never thought this accomplishment would ever be achieved, but here you are, going up the elevator to your new home.
You unlock the door and the fresh smell of the apartment hits your nose.
You finally settled all the basics in your home, leaving you nothing but tiredness and decided to lay down and get some rest.
Before you drift off into a deep slumber, your phone buzzes. You roll over to your side to quickly turn your phone on dnd, leaving you unbothered to check who texted you.
