Dhriti's Pov
The music pounding around me wasn't something I normally enjoyed, but tonight, it was the perfect distraction to drown out the whirlwind of emotions surging through my body. This pub was packed with people dressed in black, red, and all kinds of glitter. The shimmering dresses hurt my eyes. As seductive as they were, I hated anything that sparkled and smiled. It made me sick because it reflected my own inability to smile. It's been ages since I've smiled-at least, a real, wholehearted one.
"Babe, you need to get out of that serious mindset and have fun!" Kriti, my friend, shouted over the music.
"Yeah, you need to move past that scumbag. He never deserved you," added Divya, my colleague from the firm, in her usual neutral tone. They were right. He was a douche for cheating on me, and here I was, crying over him for the past two weeks while he was out living his life.
"Oh shit!" Divya suddenly exclaimed, her voice betraying a rare hint of worry. Divya never showed emotion, so this caught my attention immediately.
"What's wrong?" Kriti added, her tone matching Divya's. I raised my brow at both of them, signaling that I wanted to know what was happening. They exchanged nervous glances and then gestured toward a man.
"Okay, out with it," I said, my voice low but firm.
"We kind of... ordered a drink, but it got mixed up with that guy's," Kriti mumbled.
I was confused. "And...?"
"And... we spiked it," Kriti said slowly.
My heart sank. "What the hell? Why would you spike anyone's drink? Did he do something to you?" I demanded.
They looked guilty, their silence filling in the gaps.
"It was meant for you," Divya admitted. "We thought if you got a little tipsy, you'd loosen up and maybe, I don't know... have a fun night. Get laid, even. You need a distraction from that cheating asshole."
I couldn't believe what I was hearing. "You spiked my drink? Without my consent? What the hell, Kriti? In a club, no less? What if I had fallen into the wrong hands? Are you even aware of the dangers that could have happened?!"
"It's been an hour did you find anyone. there's a boy who is constantly hitting on me and I'm so into him, the moment you find someone i would pounce on him. " I sighed, suddenly feeling guilty for being the reason they hadn't gone off to enjoy themselves. "You don't need to babysit me, Kriti. Go, have fun. I'll be fine."
"Hey, that's not what I meant, Dhriti. We just want you to-"
"What did you even spike it with?" I asked, frustrated, as I downed my fourth drink of the night, the betrayal still burning fresh.
"Dhriti, you need to stop drinking. We ordered an aphrodisiac drink and the guy already had two glasses, and he's about to drink another," Divya said, taking my glass away.
"What?!" Without thinking, I stormed over to the guy and tapped his shoulder.
When he turned around, I was caught off guard by how breathtaking he was. His tousled hair fell over his forehead, and his eyes-drowsy, with long lashes that would make any girl jealous-seemed to draw me in.
"Yeah?" His deep, manly voice sent goosebumps racing over my skin.
"Uh... Excuse me," he waved his hand in front of my face, snapping me out of my trance. I realized I'd been staring.
"Y-Yeah, hi," I stammered, something I had never done before, especially not in front of a guy. His gaze was firm yet a little sleepy, and I remembered-he was drugged.
