Y/N's POV

Getting invited to a Sidemen Sunday wasn't necessarily on my 2024 bingo card. Then again, hitting 100k on youtube also wasn't, and that happened a week ago. The sheer growth and the speed at which it has happened involving my youtube career has been incredible. My mum didn't expect it to happen. She honestly didn't want me to, but being that i'm 25, she can't do anything about it really other than complain.

They invited me to a stupid hide and seek video in the middle of nowhere. I actually didn't know that England had this many islands around it, and even if they did, I had no idea people could just rock up and buy them for a few hours. Money definitely buys you happiness.

I feel far too shy when I show up to the shoot. There are giant YouTubers around me that I couldn't have even dreamed of meeting. I have zero clue why I was even invited. I know that the sidemen reacted to the one viral TikTok I made, and sure it was funny, but it's getting old. As soon as it went viral, I didn't milk it or anything, but everyone else is. But, it did lead me here. Standing, blushing, in front of 6 YouTubers (JJ isn't here yet) and among 40 more explaining the rules.

1. Don't leave the island
2. Keep an eye out for sector closings
3. Don't sabotage anyone
4. Remember to record at least 30 minutes of usable footage
5. And have fun

Such cheesy rules if you ask me. But Simon is a natural leader, if I do say so. I know they're all going to be hunting us down, but there's something about Simon's cadence that makes him stand out. Anyway, i've got to hide.

Simon's POV

I think i'm going to kill JJ next time I see him. He's not here yet, for whatever reason, but I know it was him. When we reacted to Y/N's TikTok last month on Sidemen reacts,  I mentioned briefly how she was.. she's fit. But I didn't mean anything by it!! I know the running joke is oh poor Simon he's so lonely and depressed but I am okay being single. I just happened to think she was.. is attractive. I have no idea what she's doing here at this shoot. She isn't meant to be here, I checked the list last week and she wasn't on it. But what do you know, she miraculously was right in the middle of it today. Maybe I missed it last time I read.

My head whirled in Tobi's direction, scowling slightly before we set off to hunt down the hiders. I sort of hope she finds a shitty spot so I can catch her and then she's out of my mind. I hadn't thought about her much in the past few weeks, but now that I've seen her, I can't stop. It's pathetic, really.

"Y/N turned up." Tobi was holding back his laughter, and luckily James and Con were far enough back that none of this was on camera or picked up by mics. My head turned as though i'm looking for seekers, and my frown deepens with the motion.

"Yeah." Is all I can say, which signals to Tobi that I want to drop it. He's a good man. He doesn't mention it again.

Y/N's POV

I can't tell if my spot is stupid or not. I'm literally maybe 50 steps from the starting point. I figured if I stay close enough to where we started, they won't expect that. I mean, almost everyone else went really far away from the centre of the island. Surely they'll check there first.

For now, i'm stuck in the most uncomfortable cluster of twigs and leaves i've ever been in. Not that I make it a habit to be in these that often I guess. I pick up the camera again, supposing that I should try and make some content.

"I'm in this bush. It's fucking miserable. But I have my book, and I'm planning on just sitting here for however long. I want to win." I whisper into the camera, the most unflattering angle i've ever produced. I am excited to just sit here and read though. It's not everyday that I get to do absolutely nothing. I just got out of Uni, I did a lot of extra classes, and i'm considering another degree. But I don't know if it's time to start a career or not. The whole YouTube thing makes it rocky. If I got big like the sidemen, which I won't because no one will for a while at least, I'd never work again.
