You asked me to forget,
To remember only the emptiness,
Like water slipping down a mountain’s face—
But forgetting lingers,
And time is never kind.So I seek you in the quiet,
In the signs of distant, forgotten shops,
In the eyes of stray cats
Who linger on my doorstep
As if they, too, are waiting for something lost.In the midnight wind that wakes me,
In dreams that fade with the dawn,
I look for you still—
For this is all that remains of you,
And all I can hold.
