Aaron

"Sorry."

Aaron mumbles to his shoes. Too many boys are rushing through the doom hallway as Aaron tries to find his room. The boy he bumps into scrowls.

"Hey man! Watch where ya goin'. If you look up, you won't bump into us!"

The crowd of boys stops walking and stares, sensing a possible fight. Aaron is a passive boy. He's never hit a person in his life. He's scared that this six foot, broad shouldered boy is gonna hit him.

"You're right. I'm so sorry, man." Aaron says.

He looks up at the boy, hoping he'd pardon him and walk away. The crowd was amped up, hoping for blood. Male testosterone. Aaron wanted to cry as he stood there waiting for the boys' decision.

"Hey, it's okay, accidents happen." The boy says.

The boy slams his meaty hand on Aaron's shoulder. Pain radiates down his arm from the impact as the boy massages his shoulder. The massage somehow soothes the pain.

"I'm Issac. What's your name?"

"Aaron."

"Freshman?" Issac raised an eyebrow.

"Yeah. Are you a freshman, too?"

Aaron nervously watches as the interest dies from the crowd who are walking away. Issac looks around amused.

"Naw, I'm a second year. You owe me, Aaron. They wanted to see a fight."

Issac points to the retreating boys.

"What do you want?" Aaron asks.

"I'll let you know."

Issac looks him over slowly.

"What's your dorm number?"

"323." Aaron replies.

"I'll show you where it is."

Aaron struggles with his heavy luggage. He packed everything and hid it before he left his small town back in Northern California. He left her, Cathy, his crazy, jealous, controlling, and possessive girlfriend.

She made him promise her that he wouldn't go off to college when they graduated high school. But he had to escape her. She was so crazy that he feared for his life.

He shook his head to get her out of his mind as he stood before his dorm room. Issac stands before him, looking Aaron over slowly. It makes Aaron slightly uncomfortable.

"Well, I better get in and unload."

"Watch it now, Aaron. I'm not ready to call in that favor yet." Issac says, laughing.

Confusion is replaced by realization as Aaron watches Isaac openly checking him out. A wave of excitement threatens to take over Aaron, but he stops it. He always stops it when it tries to happen. Cathy made sure of that.

"I'll see you around." Aaron says, opening his door and rushing inside.
