Narrative of a Reborn Sorceress

[Chapter 1 - Where Am I?]

I died when the royal guards sent by the Queen caught me and stabbed me to death. I saw the King of Afterlife. I stepped foot into Afterlife.

So how the fuck do I explain how I ended up in the middle of nowhere?

I know it's the middle of nowhere because:

1. There's no one in sight, and I have a power that allows me to see things in a ten kilometre radius.

2. There are no houses either in my ten kilometre radius.

3. I have never been to anyplace like this, and I've been to everywhere around the world.

Everywhere.

So where the fuck am I?

After a few hours of walking, I come to sign. HAPPY RANCH - TEN KILOMETRES. I scoff. What kind of name is Happy Ranch? It's like you're advertising a military system but you want it to sound like an art workshop. Maybe I'll put the people there out of their misery...

Oh right. I'm still in a misery. About what happened ten years before. Honestly, she's such a bitch she can't even see ten metres ahead of her because she wants her Mr. Protector to save her. AKA the King and Queen.

I wasn't even a bad sorceress! Like, okay, I admit I did some bad stuff, but that was only stealing, and some pickpocketing! That happens every day! So I didn't expect to get chased down because of that.

I got chased down because of that.

Ten years ago, the King requested my presence in his castle. So obviously, I went. He asked me if I could really do magic. Insulting! So of course I showed him the magic he wanted to see. He asked me if I could stay around for a while to entertain his child, who was recently feeling in the dumps. Fuck no! I'm not a nanny, go find someone who doesn't rob others for fun.

Oopsie, I meant for survival.

Anyways, Ms. I'm-A-Bitch decided that something was on between us two, so instead of chatting with her husband like reasonable people do, she asked her royal guards to start a witch hunt for me.

So insecure.

I finally reach Happy Ranch, and hey presto, just like I saw in my vision, it's a military camp trying to look like an art workshop.

What did you expect?

A guard looks over at me and gasps. Yes. Expected as well. I was labelled a criminal when the Queen started hunting me down.

Before that? Basically a miracle worker.

I wonder what people think of me now.

The guard shouts something to another guard, who rings a large bell. Ouch. Even when I'm kind of far away, the bell's tolls still hurt my ears.

I wonder what the people inside the camp hear.

[OBJECTIVE: Find help inside the camp.]

Hm? A rectangle blue hologram appears in front of me, bearing the words on it. I swipe at the rectangle, and the hologram disappears.

Then it reappears. [Do not argue. You were given a second chance to live by the gods. Do yourself justice and find help inside the camp. Use force if you need to.]

An X appears at the bottom of the screen, and once I read the message, I click on it and the hologram disappears once again.

So the gods are with me, huh? Damn. Who fucking thought.

I walk into the camp, and everyone stares at me, aghast.

"Are you... the Witch of Hell?"

Yes yes, afterwards, I basically got a shower, food, water, you name it, I got it. Partly because of their willingness, partly because I enchanted them.

We're adults, I don't need to be coy, unless you're a kid, then get out.

"So... you came back from the dead," asks the guards, sipping a cup of tea.

"Yeah. And now I need your help to get back into the kingdom so I can fucking raze them into the ground."

The guard looks neutral and looks down at his watch. "A carriage leaves for the kingdom in exactly ten minutes." Then he leaves.

I stand up and walk after him. I wonder if he was genuinely trying to help me or if it was just the enchantment. Oh well.

The carriage is huge, gold, with intricate leaf designs carved into the metal. Inside, there are curtains, plush red cushions with seats, and a tea table. I step into the carriage, grateful for the cover, and wave at the guard before I leave for the wretched kingdom.
