Author note: hey guys I'm back! Now that I finished some of my other fanfics and have more time on my hands I decided to come back to some of my older fanfics and see what I can do. After reading this one I decided that I wanted to rewrite since my writing skills have improved and I don't want to leave you guys stuck on a cliff hanger forever. Hope you enjoy!

Building, it was something you loved doing. You loved the fact that you could turn an idea on paper into a real physical thing you could use. The feeling of satisfaction you would get from succeeding in making something finally work after weeks of tinkering and adjusting. The sense of purpose you would get when you fixed old run down gadgets. The way children would catch a bright glimmer in their eyes as you handed over wind up toys or musical boxes. It was so exciting to see what you could accomplish with just a few tools one screw at a time.

You were actually fixing something right now, one of your parents' old cars. One of the wheels had been acting up when they tried driving it earlier so they had asked you to take a look at it. After inspecting it for a second you decided that it would be best to just replace the old wheel with a new one. After getting some supplies you made quick work of repairing that car.

Standing up you admired your handy work before cleaning up and packing away the things you had used. You still held onto a few of the smaller tools just in case you would need them later for something.

Opening the door to the house you walk through to the kitchen for some lunch. You washed your hands of the dust and grime that had started to cake them before whipping up a simple sandwich.

You decide to eat lunch outside in the sun, not wanting to stay in the house after being cooped up in the dark garage for so long. It really was a very nice day outside, clear sunny skies, animals running around you would hate to waste a day like this.

Lifting the home-made sandwich up to your expecting mouth you get really to take a big old bite until "rustle." You stop mid bite and turn your head into the direction of the noise. You're pretty sure the sound came from a bush close to your house.

Squinting your eyes you watch the bush to see if it would make another sound.

"Rustle, rustle."

You stand up, putting down the plate and sandwich and walk over to the bush wondering what was hiding inside it making that noise. It was probably a squirrel just looking for food but you still wanted to make sure it wasn't something more dangerous like a crazed raccoon that would scratch your eyes out.

Shaking the bush once you paused to strain your ears for anymore rustling of leaves. Subtly one of the leaves started moving, crouching down you quietly reached for the moving branch and shook it again ready to run away the second something popped out.

It was still for a while before suddenly a flash of color sprinted out. Yelping out in fright, you jump to get out of its way. You watched as it ran across the garden quickly. Jumping onto a rock it took a second look back at you, letting you get a good look at it.

Its whole body was made of metal and was similar to some kind of reptilian. Its camera-like eyes broke contact with you and darted out of sight just before you could even think of running after it. Your brain just stopped functioning as it tired to make heads or tails of the whole ordeal.
What was it? It couldn't be an animal, it was clearly mechanical and made of some kind of metal. Was it some kind of robot made to look like a certain animal for research? If so, what the hell was it doing in a bush by your house? Was it spying on you? This is crazy.

Looking back at your sandwich you decide that you will have to eat it later, and begin to go in the direction they had gone in.

You had seen it skitter into the forest in front of your house but that was it. Continuing to walk past the tree line there was nothing but greenery and the occasional squirrel or rabbit around. You strained all of the muscles in your ear and kept your eyes peeled for movement in the greenery as you wandered around.
