My heart was pounding, I didn't know if it was the weed Joey had passed along from some guy he knew, Shane I think his name was, or the alcohol flowing in my system either way I was gone. Music blasted from the speakers Danielle had set up around her house, basically turning her mansion into a club of sorts. I stumbled my way back into the kitchen, a few BCS students stood around mixing drinks and talking although it was quite a big party for just BCS. I'm sure some of the eejits from the Tommen rugby team had shown up, not that anyone really had a problem with them, they were good eye candy.
I stood in the kitchen as Casey walked out with some lad trying to decide what I wanted to poison my body with. Next I had already smoked a little so I might as well have a few more drinks. Hmm vodka or rum? Vodka or rum? I quickly poured a vodka redbull, putting one of those curly straws in before walking through the house trying to find Aoife. There was no point in looking for Casey; she would be gone until she was finished. I watched as Paul was all over some other girl that most definitely wasn't Aoife. I felt my nose sneer in disgust. I loved Aofie but honestly I had no idea what she saw in Paul. I know Joey wasn't the best person but he was still better than that snob.
Time was ticking as the clock got closer and closer to midnight. If I didn't find them soon I would be sulking in a corner by myself to ring in the new year and nobody wants to do that plus we always tried to ring in the new year all together. It was our tradition of sorts. Suddenly a pair of arms made their way around my waist. I turned around quickly to see Cass. I smiled brightly realizing that it was just her and not some random creep.
"Finally you're back, I really thought I was going to have to ring in the new year myself. Aoife has gone off somewhere." She shrugged, moving her hair to cover the hickey on her neck, "Some of the Tommen rugby lads showed up and you know what a total ride they are." She said, wiggling her eyebrows taking a few sips of my drink.
I nodded along, the Tommen school boys were just different, especially their rugby team. The lads were massive and filled out their school uniforms perfectly. I chugged the rest of my drink as flutes of champagne appeared. The new year was only a few minutes away now and everyone slowly made their way in from wherever they were.
As we walked around still trying to find Aoife a blonde oaf bumped into me spilling the champagne all over me. "I'm so sorry, shit hang on let me grab something to clean it up with." I looked up at him trying to figure out if he had done it on purpose, the Tommen boys might be good looking but some of them were pricks.
"It's fine, I'm leaving in a few minutes anyways." I said dabbing the napkin on my denim skirt and top both of which definitely weren't made for the Ireland winters. I watched as he nodded his eyes taking me in. He was practically a giant. I was certain he went to Tommen, he was too good looking for a BCS student. "Let me at least get you another drink?" I shook my head knowing I had had enough for one night. The last thing I needed was my Da and stepmom to freak out for drinking on new years.
"I'm fine, really I'm leaving shortly anyways." He nodded his eyes on the TV as the clock counted down from 120, "Can I atleast help you ring in the new year?" I turned towards him as he said that. I rolled my eyes. "I'm sure there's a ton of girls in here who would claw my eyes out if I did that." I nodded to a few of the girls from Tommen who had been giving me death stares since he bumped into me. "Is that a no then?" I laughed, shaking my head thinking about it some more. Would it really be such a bad thing to take him up on his offer?
"Delaney! There you are! Come on Pauls off somewhere so you Cass and I are ringing the new year in together because Joey wont come inside." I nodded along, maybe it was a good thing I was pulled away from the blonde giant. "So who was your friend?" Aofie asked as soon as we were far enough from him. I laughed, shaking my head, "Some lad who bumped into me spilling champagne all over me." I said grabbing another flute even though I knew I shouldn't drink more but would one more drink really hurt? "Mhm he seems very interested in you."
"Who did?" Casey asked, putting herself in the middle of us she must have walked off at some point when we were talking most likely to find her toy of the night again. "Some lad that ran into Delaney. He seemed sad when I took her away but there was no way I was letting you guys ring in the new year alone."
Casey scoffed jokingly "And who said I was alone? I was quite busy with some lad from Tommen until I ran back into Delaney while you were with Joey. Patrick, I think his name was the lad from Tommen." I let out the most unladylike snort, my hand shooting to cover my mouth. "And you didn't even know his name?" Casey laughed as everyone started counting down from 10.
"No but hey if we got two things tonight at least it was bubbles and rugby lads!" She said as we all cheered ringing in the new year. Confetti popped all around us. You could hear the fireworks in the distance. I smiled as I started the new year with the two most lovable people on this planet. As we cheered the music only got louder and soon everyone was back on the dance floor.
