Biana walked through the halls of Foxfire. It was her Finals... of level five. Which means it was about time that she dropped off her match packet. She had finished her match packet weeks ago. She was delaying dropping it off for a reason. She was too scared to see who was on her match list. Tam and Dex had been fighting for her heart since they first met. She had been hoping that one of them wouldn't be on her match list to make it easier.

"Biana!" She heard an excited voice call behind her. Biana looked over behind her. It was Dex. great. Dex had been begging her to turn in her match packet since she finished it.

"Have you turned in your match packet yet?" He asked her.

"Not yet," Biana said, glad that her class was just down the hall.

"When are you going to turn it in? I heard that the matchmakers are thinking of making a deadline to turn in match packets."

"They are?" Biana asked, stopping midstep.

"No, But they might as well, because of how long it's taking to turn in yours."

"Can you please stop talking about matchmaking for once!" Biana yelled at him.

Dex blinked a few times. "Well if you're going to be rude about it." Biana knew she shouldn't have yelled at him. But it made her feel guilty when Dex's eyes clouded a little bit. Dex turned and walked away without another word.

Biana tried not to cry. Why must she be such an idiot! Dex was just excited to figure out if he was on her match list! Biana walked into her Universe class. her last final. Then the day would be over. And who knows? Maybe she might see Dex! She could apoligize too him!

Biana shoved the thought from her mind. And turned her attention too the front of the room. where her mentor, Lady Geria, was looking at a peice of paper.

"Are you okay?" She asked her, not looking up from the paper.

"Yeah." Biana lied.

"Obviously not. you're half faded."  Still not looking up from the test she was grading. Biana looked at herself. It looked liked she was transperent. which was something that she had taught herself too do, during her midterm break. Lady Geria was her favorite mentor. She could always tell when something was wrong with her prodigies. And could immediatley tell when Biana was having trouble with something. And she was also really beautiful! she had a perfectly shaped face, and had strawberry blonde waves cascading down her shoulders. her lips were always cherry red, and that always brought out the glimmers of sapphire blue in her baby blue eyes. She was also a hydrokinetic. and she managed to find a way too make it so that smalls drops of water gathered around her.

"I just messed things up with my friend." Biana said.

"Dex?"

"Yeah."

"And he's still urging you to turn in your match packet, when you don't know if you even want too?"

"Yeah, how did you know that?"

"Word comes goes around fast." Lady Geria finally looked up from the paper. "And I heard you talking about it in the halls." She stood up. And grabbed the paper she had been looking at, and she put it on Biana's desk.

"Test away." Lady Geria said, The orbs of water glinting in the sun. "And for the record, don't listen too Boys. Do what your heart tells you too do."

"I plan on it." Biana was devastated that she wouldn't have Lady Geria next year. But was still going to pass this class with flying colors.

Biana pulled out her pencil. She read each question twice. Just like Fitz had taught her. Biana had been falling behind in one of her classes, So Fitz had given her some tips to help her with finals. Biana worked furiously. She thought about each question before thinking about each answer. it was a painfully slow process, but she had two hours to finish a forty question quiz. She'd been fine. If anyone was going to fail, it was probably going to be Sophie. Her and Keefe had a billion tutoring sessions together after all.

Soon enough the bells chimed. Sophie walked up to Lady Geria's desk and turned in her Test. "Thank you Biana." She said, and immediatley went to grading it.

"For the record," Biana said, as she walked out the door. "You were my favorite mentor."

"You were easily my favorite and smartest student out of all of my one hundred years here at Foxfire."

Biana stopped. "You had Fitz as one of your students."

"I did."

"he's way smarter than me."

"But your brother was... unpleasant. He was a fast learner, and he studied the hardest out of everyone, but it took him the entire year too get a one hundred percent at midterms. You picked up everything right away, You barely studied for this class, and You had one hundred percent immediately. And you are all three of the smarts: Book smart, Emotion smart, and street smart. And you have been one of the few who hasn't treated me like crap because of my past."

Lady Geria's dad had been Exiled when she was eleven years old. She also hadn't passed the entrance exam, forcing her too go to exillium. And she hadn't manifested until she was sixteen. which was the latest an elf had ever manifested. Biana didn't care at all.

"Thank you." Biana whispered. Mostly everyone had been comparing her too Fitz. including her parents. They had never said anything. But she could almost see the dissapointment in their eyes when they saw how she had done on her midterms. it was in passing range, but they still had expected more from her.

"Now, Have a great night. And don't tell your brother that I insulted him." Lady Geria winked at her.

Biana walked out the door in a daze. That was the first time anyone had told her she was smarter than her brother. Pride filled her heart. She was glad that her last class was universe.

Biana walked down the halls with a huge smile on her face. She licked the DNA strip on her locker. it tasted like Mallowmelt. Se swung her locker wide open. A piece of paper fell out of her locker. Biana looked at the note.

'I'll be waiting for you.' It said, In messy handwriting. Biana's eyes went wide with fear. Who would it have been from? she flipped it over, looking for a signature. there was hasty scrawl on the back. it read: 'love Tam.' Biana exhaled.

Biana grabbed her stuff from her locker, and left her thinking cap upside down. by her locker. She walked through the halls to the leap master. She saw Dex.

He was next in line.

"Dex!" Biana called after him. She had to fix things with him. Dex saw her and glared at her. He called down the crystal for Rimeshire and walked through the light without saying a word to Biana.

The pride that Biana had felt when Lady Geria had complimented her, was gone. it was replaced by dread. She knew Dex would come around eventually. Right? She sure hoped so.
