Zorianna curled into a ball, rocking back and forth in the corner of her room. She had been like this since the day before. Today marked one year since the tragedy, and she still wasn't over it. It had taken a toll on her—mentally, emotionally, physically, and even spiritually. She couldn't even remember the last time she was in a relationship, let alone had decent sex. Before the incident, she had been celibate for five years, even though she had been in talking stages with men during that time. But things never progressed beyond that, because, frankly, men were just disappointing.
Tears filled her eyes as the harsh reality hit her—she didn't even have a friend to confide in or lean on. She was fighting this battle all on her own. Even now, her mother still didn't know about it.
Semaj, however, was trying to get her to open up. She wanted to speak, to share, but every time she tried, it felt like an invisible hand was covering her mouth, silencing her. The harder she tried, the more the memories overwhelmed her—she cried the hardest as the pain flooded back, the haunting nights in the hospital replaying in her mind. And still, there was no justice for this poor girl.
[Phone rings]
Her phone had been ringing non-stop, but she couldn't find the strength to answer, let alone express the emotions trapped in her voice. She had a feeling it was Semaj, but the thought of talking to him—especially in this state—was unbearable.
