"You're taking me to your parents' house on a Pegasus?"
"Yup. Come here so she can meet you," Teagan said with a nod as he kept petting Tasunka's grayish-white nose.
Alban took a step closer, and Teagan came up behind her, putting a Pegasus treat in her hand, then he guided her up to Tasunka's mouth. He was so close to Alban, his chest was touching her back. His hand guided her wrist up to Tasunka's head, and told her, "Just hold still, and don't be afraid. She won't let you get on if he can sense fear."
Alban's wrist was held up by Teagan's hand, and after a few seconds, he let go, and put his hand on her shoulder. Tasunka ate the treat Alban offered, and then he rubbed her nose against her chest.
"He likes you!" Teagan said excitedly, jumping up and down like a little kid. "Come on! Let's get on!"
"HOW?!"
Teagan scrambled up onto the Pegasus' back, and Alban gave him a confused look as he held out a hand for her to take. She took it and Teagan helped her get up onto the Pegasus' back. Alban sat right in front of Teagan, who looked as happy as she had ever seen him be.
"Tasunka's been my best friend for a long time," Teagan started. "My parents and siblings were always mean, but Tasunka was always there. He's the family's Pegasus, and he's another form of travel for us. We could've Teleported to the house, but that's not as fun. Plus, if we ride the Pegasus, it'll take more time to get there, and we get more time together this way."
Feris mimicked Teagan's voice, repeating after him, "We get more time together this way."
"You're just jealous," Alban said, adjusting to a more comfortable position on the flying horse's back. Feris shook his head, aggravated. Alban waved to him and his mother right before the Pegasus started running, and she held on to its neck. Tasunka flapped her wings, and then they were up in the air. "Does Tasunka know where we're going?"
"Yes, she knows where we're going. Just enjoy the ride. But we're going to go above the clouds for some fun. You ready?"
"Sure!" Right after Alban had finished, they pierced through the clouds like a needle through fabric as the Pegasus flapped its wings harder and harder, until she let her feathers relax as she glided through the air. A cold chill rushed through Alban, and she opened her eyes to see the fluffy white clouds below her, like the whipped cream of the sky.
"Here, you can hold out your arms."
"What? You're not actually considering doing that, right?" Alban turned around to see a proud, confident smile on Teagan's handsome face.
"We both can." Teagan took Alban's hands, placing his fingers between hers, and he slowly lifted their arms up, and soon their arms were making a shape like a T. They soared through the sky and Teagan rested his chin on Alban's shoulder. "You like it, don't you?"
"Aren't we going to fall?"
"Stop thinking. Stop worrying about things you know aren't going to happen."
"And how do I know that we're not going to plummet helplessly to the ground?" She looked over to see Teagan's face so close to hers, smiling.
"You trust me, don't you?" Alban nodded her head, looking back in front of her. "You don't trust people much. Why?"
"I don't know, I just...."
"Do you trust Feris?"
She couldn't answer the question. She trusted no one. Not after what had happened seven years ago. She had no idea who had killed her parents, but she wanted to know. She wanted revenge.
