A new school year approached the students of Westmoore High. The graduating seniors at the end of the year would be the class of 2009.
Mila let out a heavy sigh, “School starts tomorrow, I am not ready..” her nerves always got the best of her during a new school year. She was now a freshman in highschool, “Fresh Meat” as the seniors would call it.
“Mila, get down here! You're gonna miss your bus!” her mother called out, her tone a bit desperate and tired. Mila’s mom had to get up every morning, earlier than Mila herself, to get ready for her job at the hospital, working as a nurse.
Mila nearly tripped down the stairs, but she caught herself, “I’m here, I’m here.” she yawned whilst grabbing a piece of toast and a banana. Her mother handed Mila her lunchbox, “Don’t forget this, sweetie.” her motherly voice came out as she pet her daughters hair.
“Thanks, mama!” she gave her mother a quick peck on the cheek. “Have a great day!” her mother yelled as Mila raised her hand up in response. The bus stop was rowdy as usual, as Mila found her group of friends. “Finally! Didn’t think you were coming Mimi.” Sophia teased while poking Mila’s cheek.
“Soph, stop.” Brianna yawned, obviously not wanting to be there.
“Moody?” Mila whispered to Sophia, who just gave a quick nod.
Riley spoke up, “She always seems moody when she’s just tired.” earning a light punch on the arm from Brianna. “Just telling the truth.” Riley raised her hands in defense.“We’re still waiting on-”
“Just made it!”Nina wrapped one arm around Riley's neck, “What’s good?”
“Nina, you’re always late.” Riley sigher heavily, “Fashionably late.”
“Okay, whatever. You still got to work on that.” Riley spoke, her advice trying to pierce thru Nina's thick skull.
“Nah, I'm good!” all four of her friends sighed in unison. The bus made a hiss as it came to a stop and the doors opened. The group of five friends made it to the back, and sat in their seats.
“It's our first time in the back,” Mila whispered, “it's kinda exciting!” she giggled as Sophia joined in.“Well, these are our bus seats for the rest of the year.” Riley confirmed, “This is gonna be fun,” Nina nudged Riley, who just groaned.
“Brianna fell asleep.” Sophia whispered to the three, who just began a giggling fit again.Yet, the aura of the bus was starting to give Mila a weird feeling. She just didn't know how to bring it up to her friends. “Maybe I should bring it up tomorrow?” she mumbled to herself as only her friends conversed on the bus.
