Paws of a Stoat

Chapter 5

And then awkward silence,well not really.In the background after they hadn't said anything for a bit,the forest had gotten louder.The wind rushing through the treetops,making leaves shiver and branches shudder,prey moving through the thrush,and the distant chatter of birds in the trees.

"How do you suppose we do that?"FalsePaw questioned finally.

"Well...we could ask everyone at the camp?"StoatPaw replied,she hadn't thought that far.Really she hadn't thought further than finding out who had a prophecy.

"That sounds perfectly reasonable."RabbitPaw meowed.She turned to the tom excitedly,which lead to him shattering the hope that someone actually was on board."That was sarcasm.Don't do that."

"Absolutely genius!I'm sure that'll go well!"FalsePaw declared,StoatPaw narrowed her eyes at her.Trying to figure out if this was also sarcasm."Just go around and ask cats,'Sooooo,has Lightclan given you a mystical dream?'This is why we should probably take the plan I thought up."

"Which is?"StoatPaw challenged,leaping up to her paws."I'm sure it's not better than my plan!"

"It is."FalsePaw informed,making her 'High and Mighty'face."We just find where WillowStar or RootFern died and find some evidence."

"How?"RabbitPaw meowed asking the obvious question."ThrushClan Territory is huge."

"See!My plan is better!"StoatPaw cheered,flicking her tail at herself,and prancing around like she usually did when happy.She saw FalsePaw slouched and wrapped her fluffy tail around herself."But yours was good."She reassured,nuzzling the taller she.

"Ahem,ahem?So are we going to stop your clan's murderous cats or...?"RabbitPaw motioned to them."That?"

StoatPaw slinked away from FalsePaw by about a few paw steps."Okay,okay,clever claw thoughts being thought!"She announced.

"Such as?"FalsePaw inquired,tilting her head,presumable amused.

"We combine!Like,like,uhhhhh.Wait give me a moment to put the words together."She paused and tried to think something up."We asked SUBTLY if our clanmates have had dreams and then later we find out where WillowStar got attacked and look for clues!"

"Interesting,but is effective and safe?Like if the fox is lounging around that area?"StoatPaw rubbed her paw slightly,attempting to find a counter to RabbitPaw's statement.

"There was patrol,the fox is gone."FalsePaw replied before StoatPaw could get there.She shot her a grateful smile and FalsePaw shrugged lightly,but she was definitely trying to smile.

"Okay,we'll check where your former leader died at sunhigh.You'll see here then...just sitting on this mossy very gross to sit on log."There was a pause then RabbitPaw added,"If that's okay with you."

She grinned and bumped his shoulder."Of course it is!"She reassured."See you at sunhigh!"She meowed,leaping off the log,pawed at a leaf,and landed on the ground trotting off with FalsePaw.

"Don't die!"RabbitPaw yowled from the log."Remember!At sunhigh!"

"We won't die and yes we heard you the first time."FalsePaw yowled back before she and FalsePaw ducked into a bush and went toward their camp.

"Sooooooo,how have you slept?"StoatPaw inquired."Any...odd dreams?"A few rabbit leaps away FalsePaw was muttering something about how they'd talked about being so obvious.

The deputy tilted his head down at the two looking confused and possible worried."No?"He answered with questioning green eyes."Why...why would I have had a weird dream."His expression changed for confused to suspicious.
