In its original state, this was a primary storage space, holding foodstuffs, clothing, and other sundries necessary for the operation of the fortress during times of peace. With the Old Castle not being active for decades prior to the Conclave choosing it as the site for the trial, it now only held dust. And a good couple dozen White Flame operators, setting up temporary barricades to slow the rush of any troops that would arrive to relieve the besieged fortress.

Seeing that tightened Lash's face. Obviously someone had reported back on how poorly their standard troops had faired at the battle of the Nocturnum where Lash and the Wolf Pack cut through them fairly easily. Not to mention, the First Dragon's Own smashing their way through Varos Ejzhaka.

For the briefest of moments Lash regretted not allowing General Hightower to station a couple of companies of Dragon's Own nearby to reinforce them, in case of a massive perimeter breach. But it had been the express desire by the Conclave to allow the Conclave to take care of security and protection, not House Lash, regardless of how much support House Lash and Clan Ventru had given them in the past. This was a Conclave matter. And they were determined to deal with it directly themselves.

Of course their way around it was with their Lord Protector, the High Lord of House Lash. But Ingamon Lash wasn't an army unto himself. And he had needed to have an army at his back today, to stop the White Flames, which had not hesitated to throw an entire army at him and his security team.

A quick scan with his eyes yielded too many soldiers out of sight lines to use a single volley with the Kali to take them all out. A combo volley and knife attack, however; that would kill them all before they knew what hit them. Unsheathing his moly knife, he directed his Kali to target as many humans as it could. Then he gathered himself.

"Fire," he breathed and waited just long enough for the Kali to finish discharging. Then he bolted forward with every gram of strength and speed he had left.

Moving almost too quickly for even vampires to follow, little yet humans, modified or not, he charged forward, allowing the blood fury to fuel his speed and strength to berserker levels. An eyeblink and he was slicing through the remaining humans that had survived his volley much like he had in Brussels to crush the White Flame assault on the Van Tallert castle and save Narya.

Running through their now tattered defensive line, he severed spinal cords and slit throats. Until he was abruptly stopping with the last one pinned against a wall, the moly blade buried in the operator's heart. Fangs silently bared, Lash ripped off the human's face gear and watched as the light faded from his eyes. Then he was twisting the blade enough that the weight of the dead body pulled it against the blade, allowing it to cut itself free.

With the blade's powered field preventing blood from sticking to it, Lash simply deactivated the moly and sheathed it. Then he was moving into the doorway the White Flames were setting up the temporary defenses to hold, his Kali back up and ready. Behind him over two dozen White Flame operators lay dead in mute testimony to both his skill and determination.

They were only the beginning of the slaughter he intended on making against their determined enemy!

Through the doorway he went, grimly ignoring the empty uniforms and sets of gear that now thickly carpeted the corridor beyond. Their presence attested to the fierceness of the battle that was fought here between the infiltrating White Flames and the Silver Legion only moments before. Recent enough that there was still ash floating lazily in the air.

Seeing that made Lash's blood simmer even though he had exhausted the blood fury. These filthy White Flames were doing their best to wipe his people out. While there was a part of him that wanted to know why, in truth it didn't matter. It only mattered that they wanted to. And for that, they had earned his eternal enmity.
