It's That Time Again...

It was November in Sulphur Springs, Louisiana! Fall has finally made it to the Deep South, and a big storm that blew in overnight had brought a cool down the next day. Griffin and Harper had just got done with school for the day, and Harper wanted Griffin to come over to watch movies.

"Hey Griff, how do you feel about coming over tonight?" Harper asked as they were walking out. Truth is, Harper had a massive crush on Griffin. Practically in love. So she would do anything she could to not spend a moment away from him.

"Sure! I don't have any homework anyway," Griffin replied. "What time?" he asked.

"How about 7? Does that work?" Harper asked in reply. Griffin simply nodded and gave a thumbs up as he headed out to his car. Harper wanted to squeal and jump up and down, but then she'd be labeled as the nut job who likes to scream in the middle of the parking lot. So no.

That evening, Griffin went to his mom to ask about going over to Harper's.

"Hey, do you think I could go hang with Harper tonight?" he asked. Sarah gave him a look. "Finished with homework?" she asked. Griffin sighed and knew where this was headed.

"Yes."

"Chores?"

"Yes."

"Studying for any exams?"

"Yes..."

"Trying to sneak away to secret girlfriends?"

"Ye- wait, what?" Griffin asked, completely confused and taken aback. Sarah put her hands on her hips and sighed.

"Griffin, it's obvious you guys have a thing for each other. Ever since that night with the ghost, you've acted different around each other," she explained. Griffin thought back to a few weeks prior, when they were facing Judge Walker. How he grabbed Harper's hand as she was struggling to breathe and professed how much he loved her in order to save her life (and indirectly his). He started smiling.

But then he saw his mom's look and mentally slapped himself in the face.

"No, it's nothing like that. That's silly," he said, completely defiant of the elephant in the room. Sarah shook her head, not trying to argue.

"Alright, fine, but if you get into any trouble-" she warned before being interrupted.

"How could I possibly get into trouble?" Griffin asked rhetorically. Sarah began to speak before closing her mouth.

"That conversation is premature. Nope, not doing it," she mumbled to herself before walking off. Griffin just rolled his eyes before leaving.

At Harper's house, Griffin quietly knocked on the door. He was surprised when it wasn't Jess who answered, but it was Harper instead. She smiled.

"Hey Griff, come on in," she said. Griffin smiled back and hugged her. "Where's your mom and brother?" he asked, somewhat happy they weren't intruding.

"Toph's helping mom with a late shift at the cafe," she explained. Griffin nodded as they stood there for a moment in silence, each thinking of what to say next.

"So, uh, what do you wanna do?" Harper asked. Griffin shrugged and sighed for a moment. "How about some board games? Or card games?" he suggested. Harper thought for a moment before the best idea popped into her head.

"Oooh! I know! Gilmore Girls!" she said, her smile brightening up the room in a way Griffin never thought possible.

"I'm sorry, what?" he asked. "Isn't that the show for like...I don't know..." he trailed off. Harper eyed him suspiciously. "Show for what?" she asked slowly. Griffin sighed. "Teen girls and their...drama?" he breathed out. Harper scoffed, half joking. "You're talking to one of those teen girls right now," she teased, before her expression turned serious. So serious she was treating it as if it was a life or death scenario.

"Wait...have you NEVER seen Gilmore Girls?!" she exploded. Griffin slowly nodded, honestly afraid of what was about to happen. Harper's smile expanded as she grabbed Griffin's hand and practically dragged him to her room.

"You. Chair. Now," she pointed as she grabbed the remote. Confused and downright scared, Griffin did as he was told. Harper pulled up Netflix and clicked on the pilot episode. "We're watching the first episode and you're gonna love it and we're gonna have fun," Harper basically demanded. Griffin nodded, having to take her word of it.

Harper then got distracted, almost studying Griffin. "You know...you're kinda giving a Logan vibe...with maybe some shades of Season 1 Dean," she said, leaving Griffin completely clueless. "Who?" he asked bluntly. Harper gasped.

"Oh, you poor soul," she fake-empathized. She then sat down on her bed and hit play.

About halfway through, Griffin was mildly enjoying himself, but of course he would never admit that. Then there came the first Rory/Dean scene, where Dean was helping Rory carry her things and was asking things about her. Harper smiled.

"Take notes, Griff," she teased as Griffin laughed a little. Then they got to the part where Dean admitted he'd been "watching" Rory. Harper grimaced. "Ok, maybe don't take notes on everything," she emphasized. Griffin laughed more as they continued watching.

By the end of the first episode, Griffin was actually very content with the show. He was surprised. He definitely misjudged it. The problem was that Harper was incessantly asking him what he thought.

"C'mon, you have to think something!" she begged for him to answer as Griffin continued to laugh. He then sat upright with an idea.

"Okay, fine, I'll tell you. If you kiss me," he teased. Harper fake gasped. "Woah, bold move. As if that's a challenge," she teased back. The two locked lips for a solid minute, completely immersed in the moment. So much so that Griffin forgot the deal he just made. Harper pulled back.

"So, what'd you think?" she asked again. Griffin smiled before answering. "I liked it," he said, much to Harper's delight. "But to know the details you have to do it again," he proposed, and Harper started laughing. They both smiled as they connected lips once again and enjoyed each other's company.

But then, of course, the second episode had to start playing and scare them out of the moment.

They both bursted out laughing after calming down and hugged.

"I love you, Griffin," Harper confessed. She had finally said it. It was done. No turning back now...

Griffin simply smiled, almost teary eyed.

"I love you too, Harper."
