"So?" Dexter asked, leaning against the wall as he watched Deaton clean up the exam room. "You know about everything?" Deaton chuckled, his eyes twinkling. "Well, I've seen a lot in my time. Met a lot of people to teach me."

"Funny." Dexter mutters under his breath, "Yet I'm still a mystery." Deaton looked over to the boy seeing him playing with an empty blood bag in his hands. He did feel sorry for the boy - but even if Deaton had a clue on what he was he couldn 't help him.

Dexter glanced over to see Scott climbing off the table. "Oh good, I really thought you died. Welcome to the land of the living." Deaton rushed over to steady Scott. "Maybe you should sit down, huh?"

The sound of the door opening startled them all. "Hello?"

Scott grabbed Deaton's arm, trying to stop him from walking. But Deaton slipped out and Dexter quickly replaced him. "I'm sorry, but we're closed right now." Deaton said walking out of the room.

"Come on," Dexter whispered, pulling Scott towards the back of the exam room. "Hi there. I'm here to pick up," Peter Hale said, his voice carrying a hint of menace.

Dexter put a finger over his mouth, looking at Scott. "I'm afraid I don't remember you dropping off." Deaton said.

"Oh, these two wandered in on their own," Peter replied, looking around the clinic.

"I think you can make an exception this one time, don't you?" Peter asked, his eyes narrowing.

"I'm sorry. That's not going to be possible," Deaton said firmly. "Maybe you could come back during regular hours."

Peter nodded in understanding and turned to leave. As he stepped outside, he paused, his voice barely a whisper. "There are others who can help me get what I want, boys. More innocent, and far more vulnerable."

Scott and Dexter exchanged worried glances. "Allison..." Scott said, turning to Dexter. "And Zoe." Dexter groans into his hands.

Dexter crept into the house, his footsteps muffled by the plush carpet. He glanced over to see his sister asleep on the couch, surrounded by books, Chewie curled up beside her. He approached slowly, petting Chewie before gently tapping Zoe's cheek. Kneeling down, he watched her stir.
