Saturday and Sunday had ended much too fast and now I was Monday my first day of eighth grade. I woke up and got ready as usual. I decided to dress up since we wouldn't be doing anything in athletics. I dug in my closet to find a black crop top and threw a floral off the shoulder shirt on top of it. I paired it with a pair or dark blue jeans that had a few cute rips in them. I brushed my hair and teeth and got ready to go to school. My Fitbit vibrated at the same time my phone did.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~G: Morning
I've been awake Goldy:M
G:Oh Shut up
Your supposed to be at practice buddy:M
G: I know but I'm benched
so does it really matter?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~He always acts like it doesn't matter but It does. Ever since those new boys moved onto the football team Len's been benched. I tried helping by talking about it when a coach was nearby and the coaches were slowly letting him back on the field. Of course he doesn't know I'm trying to help cause he'd be over dramatic.
I grabbed my bag hooked up my wireless earbuds and turned on spotify. I had made my playlist a while ago and had titled it "My Wannabe Favorite Playlist" I never planned on changing it even though it was my favorite. I grabbed my clarinet and jogged to the bus stop. Kaz was already there. I waved at Kaz and the other girls that she had befriended. "Hey Kaz, Whatsup girls?" "Inflation" one of them snorted while the others burst into giggles at the joke. My dark hair had been blowing in the wind but then I realized it was being held up. I turned around to find Jay, my ex. "Hey beautiful," he said. "Hello Jay," I said almost stiffly, "How are you?" "Without you? I'm-" I cut him off " Jay just stop I've already dated you twice you said you'd changed but you didn't. I'm not coming back to you" with that he looked slightly disappointed and turned away to his friends who were all staring. I waved at them since I was friends with most of them and a few waved back while others just turned their heads.
Kaz had sat by me on the bus and we were talking about Jay. "When did you guys break up?" She asked me. " Over the summer. It's a long story for another time." I said firmly, I didn't want to ruin my day so early along. " So what classes you got?" I said pulling out my schedule. She held hers next to mine only to reveal we only had athletics together, there was only one athletics hour so not surprising. After not too long we had reached the high school. All the high schoolers got off and you could see a few couples fighting or making out and both of us made puking faces "Nasty weirdos." We both were fake gaging and soon started laughing. Unfortunately we were greeted by the warm and welcoming arms of the middle school.
My first hour was science. Coach R. she is the girl's basketball coach so I'd met her last year. " Good morning Barrow" she greeted me just like during basketball. I walked into the room and found three of my friends. Ann, Emma, and Payten. These three were mostly acquaintances but they were my friends for science. Coach basically just told us what we were going to be doing all year and her expectations. Soon the bell rang, I looked and saw I had honors English.
I walked down to the other end of the hall to ELA. Her room was the definition of preppy (I think) it had the pink and orange everywhere. There was the checkered patterns, the flowers, the smiley faces, and plenty of glowing signs. The teacher Mrs. Cahm was new and while her room was fun and friendly she was not. She wasn't old or anything at max she had to be thirty-four. She gave off serious mom vibes and I could already tell she was a mom of multiple boys. Once the tardy bell rang she introduced herself and she was in fact the mother of three boys. She was the typical mom of teenaged boys. After a boring slide show (that I definitely didn't fall asleep halfway through) the bell rang and I had yearbook.
I had yearbook last year too and I was the first in five years to get yearbook, or library aide, two years in a row. Yearbook and Library aide were both run by Mrs. Fusselman, the librarian, she was a nice lady probably in her forties. Yearbook flew by being a easy class of me teaching the seventh graders how to use the cameras and the website we used for making the yearbooks. The bell rang once more and I headed out too my locker.
"Mads!" Ali and Skylin rushed down the hall. "Hey guys!" We all hugged when suddenly a blonde came into view trying to sneak up on me, Len. I reached back and grabbed him. "You want a hug too tuff guy?" I said in a babyish way. "I won't say no" he replied with a flirtatious tone, " well nice Goldfish is gone, now I'm stuck with the lovestruck weirdo." I said jabbing a thumb towards him and Ali and Skylin burst out laughing. "C'mon we gotta get to band" Len said trying to avoid the situation. We all walked to band talking about our summers and what classes we had. "Me and Goldy hung out at the pool a lot, so much my swim suit broke and I had to get a new one." I said, it was a going joke my swimsuit liked Len cuz anytime I went swimming, which I mostly only went with Goldy anyways, it untied itself or ripped. Once we got to band Ms. Bock the office lady welcomed us and held the door. Me Ali and Skylin all grabbed our clarinets while Goldy went into the brass closet to get his trumpet.
