Vedika woke up with a lingering happiness from yesterday's adventures. She stretched, rubbing the sleep from her eyes, as constant knocking at her door broke the tranquility.
"Who could that be?" she wondered.
Opening the door, she found Vihaan standing before her, his face etched with tension.
"Vedu, you're in trouble," Vihaan announced, his voice laced with urgency.
"What happened, Bhai?" Vedika asked, concern creeping into her voice.
"Someone sent pictures of you and Aryan from your date yesterday," Vihaan revealed. "Thankfully, I received them."
Vedika's confusion deepened. "Then how am I in trouble?"
Vihaan's expression turned sheepish. "I messed up big, Vedu. I lost the pictures."
"Oh no, Bhai! What did you do?" Vedika exclaimed.
"Just give me a minute to think," Vedika pleaded.
Before Vihaan could respond, another knock at the door interrupted them.
Vedika opened it to find her mother standing outside.
"Mom, please come inside," Vedika invited.
Her mother stepped in, her eyes filled with a mix of curiosity and concern.
"Vedu, are you dating Aryan? Do you love him?" she asked point-blank.
Vedika's heart skipped a beat. How did her mother find out?
Vedika gathered her courage and confessed, "Yes, Mom, I love him. I'm sorry I didn't tell you earlier. I couldn't bear the thought of being apart from him."
Her mother's expression softened. "We won't part you two, Vedika."
Vedika's heart skipped a beat, eager for the good news.
"What is it, Mom? Please don't keep me in suspense!" Vedika exclaimed.
Her mother smiled. "Your dad and Aryan's dad are best friends. Your dad has no objections."
Vedika's face lit up. "Really, Mom? Thank you so much!" she yelled, overwhelmed with joy.
Composing herself, Vedika said, "I should get ready for college now."
She rushed to the washroom, her heart still racing with excitement.
Vihaan and Nalini retreated to their respective rooms, leaving Vedika to her preparations.
As she got ready, Vedika's mind whirled with thoughts of Aryan and their future together.
Vedika attended her college lectures, but her mind wandered, searching for Aryan. During the break, she dialed his number.
"Aru, where are you? I've been looking all over campus," Vedika asked.
"I'm with Kiara at the bookstore, Vedu," Aryan replied.
"Wait there, I'm coming," Vedika said, ending the call.
She hastily mounted her bike, speeding towards the bookstore. Approaching a turn, she pressed the brakes, but they failed. The bike skidded, crashing into the railing.
Aryan's phone rang again. He answered, expecting Vedika's voice.
"Hello, Mr. Aryan. Do you know this lady whose phone this is?" a stranger asked.
"Yes, her name is Vedika Agarwal," Aryan replied, sensing unease.
"She's been in a bike accident. The brakes failed, and her bike crashed on a turn. I'm taking her to Kohinoor Hospital. Please come as soon as possible," the man urged.
Aryan's world crumbled. "Okay, I'll come ASAP."
He stumbled, his legs buckling. Kiara rushed to support him.
"What happened, Bhai? Why are you shocked?" Kiara asked, concern etched on her face.
"Kiara... Vedika... She's been in an accident," Aryan stammered, his voice trembling.
Kiara's grip on his arm tightened. "Let's go, Bhai. Now."
Aryan's eyes locked onto the hospital's direction, his heart racing with fear.
Aryan and Kiara rushed to Kohinoor Hospital, anxiety etched on their faces.
At the reception, Aryan inquired about Vedika's room number and condition.
"ICU, room 304," the nurse replied.
In the ICU, Aryan's heart ached seeing Vedika's battered body.
"Vedu, please wake up. I love you, please wake up," he whispered, clutching her hand.
Just then, the doctor arrived.
"Doctor, how is Vedika?" Aryan asked, desperation in his voice.
"Her condition is stable. Deep cuts, but hard scratches. Thankfully, she handled the bike well despite the brake failure. She'll regain consciousness in 2 hours," the doctor reassured.
"Thank you, doctor," Aryan said, relief washing over him.
He quickly dialed Vihaan's number.
"Hey bro, what's up?" Vihaan answered.
"Bro, Vedika... she's been in an accident. She's at Kohinoor Hospital with me," Aryan said, his voice shaking.
Vihaan's overprotective nature kicked in. "I'm coming."
Vihaan informed their parents, and they all rushed to the hospital.
"How is she?" Vihaan asked Aryan, concern etched on his face.
Aryan recounted everything, including the brake failure.
"The doctor said she'll be fine soon," Aryan reassured.
Vihaan's eyes narrowed. "I'll find out who tampered with her brakes."
Aryan nodded. "Not now, Vihaan. Let's focus on Vedika's recovery."
As they waited, Vedika's family arrived, worry etched on their faces.
