Maya stood in front of the full-length mirror in Damian’s private bedroom, her eyes lingering on her reflection. The room was bathed in soft, dim light, but the tension in the air was palpable. The weight of everything she had discovered about Damian in the last few days pressed down on her, a gnawing anxiety that refused to leave. She had seen the other side of him, the manipulator, the man who took pleasure in breaking those who dared to trust him. And yet, there was still a part of her that couldn’t pull away completely.

He knows, Maya thought, her fingers trembling slightly as they brushed her bare arms. He knows I’m pulling away.

And now, standing in the luxurious room draped in deep reds and blacks, she knew what was coming. Damian had a way of sensing things—her emotional distance, her hesitation—and when he sensed it, he always sought to reassert control. Tonight would be no different.

The door creaked open, and Damian entered the room, his presence instantly filling the space with an oppressive energy. He was dressed in his usual dark attire, but his movements were slow, deliberate. His eyes locked onto hers in the reflection of the mirror, his gaze sharp and knowing. There was something about the way he looked at her that made her skin prickle with both fear and longing.

“Maya,” he said softly, but there was no warmth in his voice. It was smooth, controlled, with an underlying edge that made her heart skip a beat. “You’ve been distant.”

Maya swallowed hard, her throat dry. She wanted to say something, to defend herself, but the words wouldn’t come. She knew there was no use in pretending with Damian. He saw through everything.

He stepped closer, his hands sliding around her waist, pulling her back against his chest. The heat of his body contrasted sharply with the cool air of the room, and Maya could feel her pulse quicken under his touch.

“I can feel you slipping away,” Damian murmured into her ear, his breath hot against her skin. “But you know as well as I do, you can’t run from me.”

Maya’s breath hitched, her body instinctively reacting to his closeness, even as her mind screamed at her to fight back. But Damian’s hands were already moving, his fingers tracing the delicate line of her neck, his touch both soft and possessive.

“I think we need to remind you of who you belong to,” Damian whispered, his voice lowering to a dangerous whisper. “Don’t you agree?”

Maya’s heart pounded in her chest, her skin tingling with anticipation and dread. She knew what Damian wanted. He didn’t just want her submission—he needed her loyalty. He needed her to prove that she was still his, that she hadn’t strayed too far from the control he wielded over her.

Before she could respond, Damian’s hands moved to her eyes, slipping a silk blindfold over them. The world plunged into darkness, and immediately, Maya’s other senses heightened. She could feel his breath on her neck, his fingers brushing against her skin, but without her sight, everything felt more intense—more vulnerable.

Her breath quickened as Damian led her toward the large bed at the center of the room, his hand guiding her with gentle but firm pressure. The soft velvet of the bedspread brushed against her legs as she stood there, blindfolded and waiting.

“You’ve forgotten something important, Maya,” Damian said softly, his voice coming from behind her. She felt him move closer, his lips brushing against her ear. “You’ve forgotten who holds the power here.”

Her pulse raced as she felt something cool slide across her back—an ice cube, its frigid touch sending a shiver down her spine. She gasped at the coldness, her body instinctively arching away from it, but Damian’s hands were there, holding her in place.
