In the Verdant Wildwood 3 hour's ago....
The forest air smelled like pine needles and fear. Asher, Captain of the Sentinel Division, gripped his claw weapons, "Our mission is simple, kill the creature terrorizing our tribesmen and their livestock" But the forest was too quiet, like something was wrong.
"Keep your eyes peeled, everyone," Asher said, his voice low. "This thing's smart, it's been playing hide-and-seek with us for days."
Aurora, his Lieutenant, nodded, her bow ready to be use to kill "We'll find it, Captain. It won't get away from us."
Sergeant Jasper, a big guy with a loud laugh, chuckled, his spear held at the ready. "Don't worry, Aurora. This old lion still has some fight left in him."
Elowen, a skilled tracker, pointed ahead. "There, see? Fresh tracks. It's been here recently."
They followed the tracks, the forest growing darker and denser. The silence was suffocating them, no birds singing, no sound entering and no sound leaving the forest.
Suddenly, a scream ripped through the air. It was Jasper, his voice overflowing with pain. Asher spun around, his claw weapons extended, but saw nothing.
"Jasper!" Asher yelled, racing towards the sound.
But it was too late. Jasper lay on the ground, his chest ripped open, his spear lying beside him.
"Elowen!" Asher shouted, but she was gone, vanished into the trees.
Aurora, her face pale, fought back with a fury that surprised even Asher. She loosed an arrow, but the attacker was a ghost, a shadow that moved too fast. Asher felt a searing pain in his side, a sharp, burning sensation. He stumbled back, clutching his wound.
"Aurora!" he gasped, seeing her fall, a deep gash across her arm from a claw weapon.
"Thalia!" Asher yelled, seeing the Corporal fall, a deep wound on her chest from a spear.
Finn, his eyes wide with terror, stumbled back, his own spear clattering to the ground. Orion, Serenity, and Kai, the new recruits, were swallowed by the darkness, their screams cut short.
Asher, his heart pounding, swing his claw weapons, his eyes looking everywher trying to find the mysterious beast and get revenge. He felt a cold hand on his shoulder, but when he turned, there was nothing there. He was alone, surrounded by the silence of death.
He stumbled back to the village, his body aching, his mind numb. He was the only one who made it back, but he was heavily injured. And that's when Henry, celestine and Chief Azrael find's Asher crawling back to them.
Meanwhile, at Dr. Vlor's hospital...
The entire hospital panicked when one of the patients suddenly stood up and tried to walk away.
"Dr. Vlor! Dr. Vlor! A patient suddenly stood up, and he's trying to leave! If he keeps this up, his wounds will open up again! We can't stop him!" the nurses shouted in panic.
Dr. Vlor rushed to the situation as fast as possible.
"Asher, Asher! You can't walk now. Your wounds will open up. Just rest in your room!" he said, trying to calm Asher down.
"N-no, it's not the time for m-me to rest. I wi-will kill that bastard. He killed everyone. He killed my squa—" Before even finishing his sentence, Asher collapsed to the ground, his wounds opening up again, and his exhaustion catching up with him.
Dr. Vlor and the nurses immediately rushed him to his room and treated him again. They used many medicinal herbs to stop Asher's bleeding, and some of his bones were more broken than before.
