𝒆𝒍𝒆𝒗𝒆𝒏, Feelings In Process (p.2)

No one's POV:

About a day later, after the teasing games Alastor and Lucifer played the day before, the King wanted to repay his darling daughter for letting him stay at the hotel to protect her and her friends.

Charlie smiled brightly at her father as they both sat down on a red and white checkered blanket prepared in Pride Forest.

"Thanks for setting up this picnic, dad! Things have been rough since the fight with Adam.." Her bright red eyes beamed with excitement to spend some time with her single father. Lucifer chuckled softly, "Just doin' my job, Char-Char!"

He opened the weaved picnic basket he had brought with him and exclaimed, "I even made that apple pie your mom used to make!"

Lucifer looked down at the accidentally flattened pastry and his expression became extremely disappointed at the sight.

Charlie smiled softly and awkwardly, trying to lighten her dad's mood. "Oh, it got smushed.. Well, that's okay! We can still have a good time!"

She stuck her hands into the basket, gently grabbing the pie and placing it and its tin on the checkered carpet.

Lucifer held in his disappointment, he didn't want to ruin the moment right now.

Afterward, the two parted, Charlie returned to the hotel to make sure everything was running correctly. The king went to his room, sulking in his desk's red leather chair.

He stayed there, contemplating his life's decisions and bullying himself about how ignorant he was to let the tart get squished so easily. Lucifer could recollect the slight disappointment on his daughter's face .

The liege hadn't left his velvet and duck themed room in over three hours, the residents, Charlie especially, was getting worried about him.

The princess begged Alastor to check on Lucifer due to her important planning of advertisements for the Hazbin Hotel. The deer knocked on the King's door gently, he opened the door wide as he didn't get a response.

"Your Majesty, I was sent by your daughter to check on your well being. Don't tell me you're upset because of my tricks."

Lucifer's eyes widened as he heard Alastor's voice, he pushed his chair back, quickly getting up and getting in front of him. "Does Charlie hate me!"

In surprise, the sinner took a step back and complied, "What, no-"

"But it's only a matter of time before she does, right!" The king exclaimed, droplets of transparent tears damping his rosy cheeks.

Alastor stitched his eyebrows together in confusion, making small lines between them. "This is Charlie we are talking about, what makes you think she hates you when she adores you?" He questioned

Lucifer swallowed hard before responding back, "I- she must hate me... I failed her because I messed up." He mumbled and looked down at his black boots.

Alastor sighed tiredly and leans down to the same height as His Majesty, "One mistake won't spell disaster."

The king sniffled, his eyes sparkling from his glittery tears. "But it can...because it did with Lilith. Every mistake I made drove her away.."

-FLASHBACK-

"What is this." Lilith said, a seemingly annoyed look on her face at her husband's childish behavior. Lucifer smiled brightly at his bride, showing off the duck replica of her. "It's you, Lily!"

He brought the duck close to his chest, proud of his accomplishment. "I made one for Charlie too-You're joking."

She crossed her arms frustratedly, "You're the King of Hell and this is what you spend your time on."

Lucifer's gaze softened, shaking his head at the confusion. "I'm only trying to cheer you up, love. You've been really distant lately-" Lilith scoffed and cut him off before he could finish his statement

"Yes, because I've been running the kingdom you've neglected!" He tried to reach for her hand but she pulled and turned away

"I understand, but—Hell has been fine. You don't have to micromanage everything..." She growled at him angrily, taking off the ring he gave her when they got engaged. Lilith stormed off as Lucifer tried to chase and reason with her before her leave.

Tears in his eyes began to form as he saw the ex-love of his life leave him, "L-let's build our family! Think of Charlie!"

Lilith's bright red horns formed from out of her head, her violet eyes annoyed. "I am thinking of Charlie! Because unlike you, I haven't forgot what Heaven has done to us, and I plan to make them pay using all of these filthy sinners!"

"Lily.."

"Now if you want to sit on your depressed ass and make trash all day, be my guest! But if you really love me, you'll do something actually useful!"

-BACK TO ORIGINAL TIME-

Lucifer looked back up at Alastor, the tears in his sparkly eyes growing bigger and dripping down his cheeks again as they did before.

"She was right, I'm a horrible king and father..."

Alastor inhaled sharply, preparing himself for the compliments he was about to serve to him.

"Well that's simply not true. Because you let Hell grow on its own, I can have my broadcast, become an Overlord, and have a meal in Cannibal Town! You have essentially made me the Radio Demon! And as one of your subjects, I'm very grateful.

All your "so called mistakes" have led to amazing things. You created this kingdom, Lilith did not.

You may be fallen but you're still an angel, Lucifer. Your creations still lead to good."

Alastor smiled genuinely again, his eyes shining from the bright lighting in the bedroom.

-THAT NIGHT-

I lay in my velvet sheeted bed, staring up at my room's empty white ceiling. I couldn't stop thinking about what Alastor had said to me a few hours before.. God, I have butterflies in my stomach..

I keep blushing just saying his name, what he said was so sweet...

I sighed and got up from my bed, sitting down on my desk's chair. I began creating a rubber duck that closely resembled Alastor, along with his deer-like features.

I dipped my paintbrush in thick red paint, dying the duck's custom tufty ears red to match him.

"I'm sorry, Lilith, but I can't love you anymore..

All the space in my heart has been taken by another."
