She awoke in the dead of night, in a forest. It was dark, all she had was a walkie talkie, a couple scented candles, and a flashlight. The walkie talkie screeched to life.
"Lily? Lily, you there?" The man asked, his voice scratchy and muffled.
"Yeah, yeah, 'm here, Charlie." Lily murmured, rubbing her head. "Just... hold on. The things can't possibly be ready yet."
"And you jinxed it, did you have to do that?" He asked, sounding vaguely annoyed.
She stood up, flicking on the flash light. The night blanketed the dry forest, dry leaves and sticks splayed across the ground. The only light other than her flashlight was the bright moon above.
"Alright, where's the room?" She asked, choosing a direction and walking.
"Northwest, about a mile from where you are," He said a bit meekly.
"Fuck,"
"I know, bye." He said before the radio shut off.
She hears a distant sound, a screeching roar. "Fuck, fuck, fuck." She mumbled, picking up the pace. Ah yes, her favorite thing in the whole wide world, night terrors. Creepy dog and human looking things try to hunt her every time she goes to sleep, very normal things.
"I'm gonna kill Rue later," she mutters under her breath.
She slows down when she hears a soft crunch of the leaves. It's so dark, she can't see a thing other than the moon and the glowing eyes glancing around. It lumbers next to her, practically breathing down her neck. Lily holds her breath, staying as silent as possible
Its head looks like a stump, two eyeholes carved out of the middle. Its gaunt, lanky, and starved form stumbled, probably as tall as the trees. It places a hand on a tree, listening closely, before continuing on.
She kept on walking very slowly, before she finally let out her breath. It felt like an eternity before she found the white room. She ran towards it, throwing open the door before remembering and closing it very carefully.
Inside, it seemed like a normal security room, monitors upon monitors stacked on a table with a revolving chair in front of it. She sat down, calming down her heart before she turned the computers on. They showed various views of outside, some Irams about five meters away, that big Fames from earlier still wandering around aimlessly. She stayed inside as long as she could, probably at least a couple hours, until the monitors started to glitch out.
"No, no, no, fuck." She murmured, grabbing her stuff and dashing out. The damn Imperitia, she forgot about that. When she got outside, she heard roars all across the forest, and she made a mad dash in a random direction.
She was forced to slow down when she spotted three Irams stalk towards her. They looked like if you mixed a cat fish with a skeletal dog with the skull of a carnivorous horse. Their eyes glowed a dark blue, their skull long and exposed with something trailing out of the top of their head. She glanced around, staying completely still before she saw a Fames, stumbling towards the white room. It turned, and spotted her.
Damn.
It roared, its jaw dropping to its chest as it lunged towards her. She froze on the spot, and then darkness. The image of the three Irams lunging towards her was engraved into her mind as she jumped awake like someone shocked them.
She found themself in a city, her hands reforming from black ink. Their eyes widened in fear and surprise, looking at the dozens of disemboweled bodies. Their abdomens were slashed open, black ink splattered inside their abdomen.
"I— wait, no—" She stammered, her hands trembling. Their breathing grew fast as she scrambled to a wall.
"That isn't— no, no." She mumbled, hesitantly standing up. Their nails dug into their skin under her gray hoodie.
Should've been faster, or shouldn't've went to sleep period. Their disembodied voice rang in Lily's ears, mocking and smug in her mind. Rue, damn Rue.
She stuffed their hands in their pockets, pulling their red beanie over their eyes as she walked the empty streets. She hoped Silas didn't wake up yet, the house is probably a mess.
(Yes, bad ending. 2nd chapter is good ending, and who knows, maybe you'll find a hell of a lot more about Lily.)
