She found herself smiling, feeling a sense of calm wash over her. "Likewise," she replied, her voice barely above a whisper. She looked down at Evan, who was still staring at Takumi with wide eyes. "I think someone is a little curious," she said, a small laugh escaping her lips.
Takumi's gaze returned to Evan, and a soft smile spread across his face. "I think you're right," he said, his voice filled with amusement. Leaning forward, so he could show even that he wasn't a threat, and was friendly. "Hello little one, I hear your name is Evander, is that right?"
Smiling at Takumi, while Evan shied away, hiding his face in her neck, Elvira started giggling at the sight. "Evan, why don't you go and get your coat, so we can go and see the animals," she said, turning to Takumi, hinting for him to step outside with them.
As the trio stepped outside, Evan walked over to his outside play area, where some of the animals had migrated. While Elvira and Takumi took a seat on the porch to talk. "So, how did you find me?" Elvira asked, turning to look at Takumi, who was trained on Evan.
"To be honest, I had been searching for you for a while," Takumi said, his gaze locked on hers. "I know we said we wouldn't see each other again, but something about you just drove me insane." He paused, taking a deep breath.
"I searched the entire kingdom for you, I almost gave up until I saw you yesterday, and I knew it was fate. One of my old friends noticed if I had searched the forest, but I didn't think I would find you in it until...it felt as if the energy around the house was calling out to me, guiding me to you."
He finished in a rush, his eyes making direct contact with hers. He reached out, gently taking her hand in his. His touch sparked a warmth within her, a flutter in her chest.
"I thought about moving back into the village to be able to locate you when I found out I was pregnant, but that was when the war broke out with the other kingdom, and I didn't want to bring Evan into that environment," she said, giving his hand a subtle squeeze. It was the truth, a part of her story, and she saw understanding in his eyes.
"I know we don't know each other," Takumi said, his voice filled with sincerity, "but this could be a start." He gave her a soft smile, one that made her feel as if her body was heating up from the inside out.
"Um, yeah ask me anything?" she said, glancing over at Evan, who was now in the sandbox with the baby goats. "I guess we can start calm, what's your favorite color?" she added, trying to lighten the mood, and was rewarded with a burst of laughter from him.
"Well my favorite color is light green, what's your favorite pastime activity," she said, curiosity getting the better of her.
"I'll have to go with training or horse riding," he said, a small smile playing on his lips.
Just then, they heard a voice behind them. "Momma who's that." They sprang up, turning to see Evan running towards them, his little legs moving as fast as they could. He launched himself at Elvira, wrapping his arms around her leg. "Takumi this is where you were. I thought something happened to you," he said, looking up at her with big eyes before turning to look behind him, taking in the sight of Elvira and Evan.
Whispering out, "Is that her." He nodded, turning back to her, tucking a hair behind her ear, and said, "I'll see you soon, I promise." His voice was sincere, filled with a warmth that made her heart flutter.
Crouching down to Evan, who was smiling from ear to ear, "You be good for your momma little one okay." He added, his voice gentle.
"Are you coming back?" Evan said sadly. Elvira rubbed his back comfortingly, "Of course, I will, and I'll also bring you a present if you're good to your momma okay."
Takumi walked closer, and threw his little arms around his neck, pulling back and surprising him in the process. Stepping back, before locking eyes with Elvira, then taking his leave, dragging his friend behind who was asking all sorts of questions.
