After cautiously opening my eyes, they quickly closed again. The sudden amount of light shining through was the cause. They fluttered a short time later, adjusting to the intense brightness. My eyes opened again upon becoming acquainted, allowing my vision to see what was before me—which was a still curtain that did poorly at hiding the huge vent below and window above, broadcasting the beaming sun.
A moderate moan escaped my lips as I stretched my arms and legs out as if I were making a snow angel. The action relieved my tense bones. While doing that, I felt a thin sheet beneath me that seemed on top of a firm surface. Glancing down, I realized I was lying flat on my stomach on the bed. When did I get here? The only thing I remembered was on the floor after rough contact with it last night.
Once I gained enough strength, I released a cough and cleared my throat. Somehow, during the night, my throat gets super dry like a survivor of the Sahara Desert. Usually, I'd have a water bottle beside my nightstand. Too bad I'm not at home. I flipped my body to face the direction of what my backside saw, and there was one thing I noticed. The only thing accompanying me on the bed was a pillow.
