Isco awkwardly trailed behind Della as they walked towards the park in silence. He scrunched up his nose at how...culé the city of Barcelona was (obviously). He was just so used to the white of Madrid back home.
"Here we are." Della said as she pushed open the green gate that led to the park. Isco could already see the goals and people playing football. He could even see some of his friends back from Madrid who also signed up for the program.
"Are you going to stay?" Isco asked Della who nodded, "I'll be over there." she said, pointing at a park bench.
Isco nodded and ran towards the pitch before he started playing with the guys there.
-
Della watched as Isco introduced himself to the rest of the guys there. She recognized some of them as guys from her school, they were all football jocks - you know, the typical athletes.
Della's eyes widened when none other than Marc Bartra walked up to Isco and introduced himself.
Marc was the classic popular boy. Every girl wanted to date him, every guy wanted to be him. He was captain of the school's football team and some people even said FC Barcelona were interested in recruiting him.
It seemed like every girl in school was bound to go through a phase where they fell for his crystal blue eyes and his amazing smile - including Della.
He never knew who she was, though. Della was always just the girl in the back of his history, math and geometry class; the girl who he'd go to for homework answers but never know her name.
Marc and Isco looked like they could've been best friends. They were laughing about something and Marc chose Isco to be in his team - Marc almost always never chose newbies to be in his team, which is why they won the majority of the games they played.
But when Isco had the ball by his feet, everyone kind of understood why Marc chose him now. Isco was a natural and he moved so skillfully that he made the others look bad.
Marc's team finally scored a goal and they took a small break. Marc walked over to Isco again and high-fived him for the good assist he gave to one of the guys from their team and they talked for a while before Isco suddenly pointed at Della.
She shrunk down and pretended to read her book but Marc already saw her. The both of them walked over to her and Marc gently used his two fingers to lower down the book so he could see Della's face.
"Hey, I know you," he smirked, "Señor Gomez's history class, right?"
She nodded slowly and he took a large swig out of his water bottle and sat down next to her, "Bella! That's your name." he said after a while, looking accomplished.
"...It's Della," She mumbled, "But you were close."
He put down his water bottle and murmured a soft apology. "So, you have Isco living at your place for a while, don't you?" he asked.
Della nodded, still surprised that Marc was talking to her. "Alright, cool," Marc said and he stood up again before throwing an arm around Isco.
"I'm having this party on Friday, you two should come," he said, glancing between Isco and Della. "Bring Diego - if he's not too busy with his girlfriend - and whoever else you want." he said, directing it at Della.
Della had never been invited to one of Marc Bartra's huge and wild parties and now she was thanks to Francisco.
Her heart was beating at 1000 miles per hour and she knew that she should just let Isco do the talking or she'll end up saying something extremely stupid.
Isco shot Della a small smile before leading Marc back to the pitch where the rest of the guys were waiting.
-
"Do you have a thing for Marc?" Isco asked Della suddenly as they entered the house again.
Della froze in her spot and tossed the keys onto the tabletop and glared at Isco. "No."
Yes.
"You know, I won't tell him or anyone," Isco said as he slipped off his grassy cleats by the door. "I barely know the guy."
Della rolled her eyes and grabbed a drink from the fridge, "True, but I don't know you either. We literally met 3 hours ago." she said, emphasizing her words.
"Touché," Isco replied and leaned against the counter next to Della. "But I'm going to be here for the next 3 months. Might as well get comfortable."
Before Della could wipe the sly smile off his face, Diego walked into the house and cheered when he saw Isco.
"Hey! Perfect timing," he said before throwing an arm around him and dragging him upstairs to where Diego kept his stash of video games. "Let's play a game of FIFA and I'll see if you're worth my time." Diego joked.
Della watched as Isco left and shook her head; he was definitely something different.
