Chapter 1"DR. CULLEN" AS SOON AS THE PALE DOCTOR MADE his way into the room Martin called out his name, making it as a silent warning to the young girl beside him that she should not slip up.
She knew she wouldn't, having years of practice of doing exactly that but that wouldn't stop him from saying it.
"Ah, Mr. Cooper" The unknown voice rung through the pale hospital walls that had her fidgeting in her seat ever so slightly. Carlisle walked closer, his eyes darting between the Reservation Mechanic and his daughter, the one who he hadn't even seen yet, but is making his undead heart ache. The one that wouldn't look up from where here eyes seemed glued on the floor.
"I've got this one Jackie" Carlisle dismissed the nurse that had been checking Maisie's vitals and Martin turned his nose up at the sight. He knew of Carlisle Cullen. Living just on the actual line that separates the Reservation and Forks and having grown up going to the high school on the Reservation meant he had heard the tales about the dead cold ones. And whether they were real or not, they stuck.
But he tried to conceal his feelings on that since his daughter now went to Forks high school- though that was due to it's own reasons.
Carlisle seemed pretended to not notice Martin's rude stare as he went through the clipboard with Maisie's information and once he was done he looked down at the girl noticing she hadn't moved.
"Maisie" he spoke to gain her attention.
"Maisie" Martin said in the least angry tone he could muster but Mae knew the underlying threat that came with her father's voice. Her eyes snapped up to the doctor and her lips slightly parted in shock as they did. There was something so cold about him, from the shade of his hair and skin to the piercing gold of his eyes, he looked like the human equal of snow. As his eyes finally caught Mae's they both seemed to pause, Carlisle's entire body stiffening every so slightly, while Y/N could see how the ribbons of muscles hidden underneath his frosty medical coat seemed to stand on end, almost pulsating out of his clothes. But as quickly as this moment started, it was over.
"Well, Maisie. How do you feel?"
"Okay" she whispered shrugging her shoulders. She was here for her head and only her head. But right now she couldn't think about that over the bruising on her stomach that flared in pain as she breathed.
"It hurts""Like a headache or..?" She shook her head.
"More, quite a bit more" she wasn't talking about her head anymore but they didn't need to know that. She just wanted something to ease the pain.
"Don't worry about it doc, she can deal with a little pain" immediately Maisie nodded her head un agreement and Carlisle's eyes darted between the pair.
"It's no problem, really" he assured before he took out a retinoscope and shone the light in her eyes.
"Look here" he held up one hand and she followed it as he moved it around before swapping hands and doing the same thing.
