i truly believe no non-irish person would ever be able to understand and isish person talking because of their accent, especially if they're from cork or Dublin

now ima tell yall some irish slag that makes NO SENSE what so ever
1. "thats me then" people say this when they're done with a conversation and they're about to leave
2. "stop the lights" people say this when they're socked or in disbelief
3. "i do be ..." people say this when theyre talking about how the act or something they do, sometimes without realising they're doing it
4. "after" eg, "im after cleaning my room" people say this when they've already done something
5. "Give it a lash" describes doing something for the first time
6. "Wrecks my head/headwrecker" used when describing something or someone annoying
7. "Hold on a wee minute" Used to politely pause someone while they're talking
8. "craic" means fun, if someone asked "whats the craic" that means whats up and if someone says "we had good craic" that means they had fun
9. "Yes" In Derry, people say "Yes" instead of hello, they usually followed with a hi, so the conversation goes like this "Yes hi"
10. "Bold" Used to describe someone who is misbehaving
11. "It will stand to you" used as a message of support after someone has gone through something challenging/difficult
12. "Work away" used in response to a request, which tells the person to keep doing what they were doing
13. "Lost the run of himself/herself" means that they've gotten a bit carried away14. "awful" we basically just use "awful" as a replacement word for very
15. "i will yeah" a sarcastic way to tell someone that you absolutely will not do something
16. "I am in my hole!" This is our other way of sarcastically telling someone that we are absolutely not doing something
17. "Go away out of that" said when someones in shock and basically just means "no way!"
18. "Leg it" literally just means run
19. "ah sure look" means "it is what it is"
20. "Gas" just means funny
21. "C'mere to me/Come here till I tell ya" used to get someones attention in a conversation
22. "giving out" if someones "giving out" that means they're complaining about something
23. "i will now in a few minutes" idk why we add in the word now but this just means " ill do it in a few minutes"
25. "Your man" just means a man
26. "your one" just means a woman
27. "You know yourself" basically just means that the person you say it to understands
28. "I'll see you now" means the complete opposite of what it sounds like like, it means you'll see the person later
