Day 1 – The Beginning
October 3, 2023
Tuesday, 1:00 PM
The group was in Room 103, on the first floor, immersed in a quiet Biology class. Ztirf, Marlo, and I—Emerson—decided to grab a quick snack at the canteen. As we made our way down the hallway, the blaring siren of an ambulance echoed through the air outside.
"That's the sixth one today," Ztirf remarked, glancing at the others.
"Probably an accident nearby," I replied, trying to brush it off.
Marlo chimed in, frustrated. "Still no signal since this morning. I can't even check Facebook."
By the time we stepped into the canteen, our conversation faded, our hunger taking over. The place was bustling with energy, despite most students still being in class. The noise of chatter and the clinking of utensils filled the air.
*CURRENT LOCATION*
"They're probably as bored as we were," Ztirf thought to himself, observing the lively crowd. The canteen was home to five different stalls: one selling fishballs, another serving soups, a third selling sweets and fresh mangoes, while the fourth had ice cream and corndogs. The last stall, which had the longest line, sold a mix of junk food and drinks.
I stood at the back of the line at Stall 5, while Ztirf and Marlo opted for the shorter line at the fishball stand. As we waited, an odd moment of silence settled over the room, broken only by the simultaneous chiming of everyone's phones.
A murmur swept through the crowd as confused students pulled out their devices to check the sudden notification. Ztirf and Marlo glanced down at their phones, and their faces drained of color as they read the message:
🔴 Emergency Alert: Government Mandate

The emergency alert was accompanied by a deafening tone and a vibration that demanded immediate attention. Nervous whispers rippled through the canteen as everyone tried to process the message.
