Mira's room
POV Za'Mira Green
6:00 am"Ughhh." My eyes shot open at the sound of my alarm ringing through my room. I groaned, reaching over to my nightstand to hit the snooze button. I hated waking up early, especially on school days. But I knew I had to get up.
The clock flashed 6:00 a.m., and reluctantly, I swung my legs over the side of the bed, letting my feet touch the cool floor.
"Damn let me grab my robe."
I shuffled to the bathroom and quickly took a shower, washing away the sleep. After brushing my teeth and washing my face, I fixed my edges, trying to look somewhat put together.
I slipped into my favorite black Nike sweatpants and a plain black crop top, topped off with a matching black jacket. It was comfortable, just the way I liked it.
As I made my way downstairs, the delicious smell of breakfast wondered through the air. My mom was busy in the kitchen, making plates for us. "Good morning, Mira, how you sleep?" she questioned, turning to face me before turning to flip the pancakes on the stove.
"Morning, it was decent as always." I mumbled, knowing I didn't get much sleep.
I grabbed a plate and loading it with a pancake and some bacon. I took a seat at the table, bowing my head to pray over my food.
After breakfast, I grabbed my backpack and headed out the door. The drive to school was the best part of the morning, and I loved blasting music the whole way.
I hopped into my car and started it up, immediately connecting my phone to the radio. Sonder Lovely filled the car as I rode down the streets. The music put me in a better mood, drowning out my early-morning grumpiness.
On the way to school, I decided to stop at Starbucks for a caramel frappe. It was my little treat to myself, a way to start my day. I pulled into the drive-thru, quickly ordering my drink and tapping my fingers against the steering wheel to the beat of the song playing.
Once I had my frappe in hand, I drove the rest of the way to school, AirPods in place as I walked through the hallways. The familiar hum of chatter and lockers slamming faded into the background as I drowned myself in my playlist.
After walking for what seemed like an eternity I found myself in front of my first period, precalc.
As I settled into my first class, I glanced around the room. The teacher, Ms. Anderson, was scribbling notes on the board, she hummed lowly to the music she played on her computer.
I pulled out my notebook, ready to take notes. Ms. Anderson called on me to answer a question, and I quickly responded, surprising myself with how easily the answer came to me. I jotted down notes, solving problems, feeling a sense of satisfaction wash over me with each equation.
As the class continued, a wave of sleepiness washed over me. After about twenty minutes, I had finished all the worksheets Ms. Anderson assigned. I took off my jacket and laid it on my desk before resting my head on my arms, letting the sleep take over me.
As I drifted off, the sounds of my music filled my ears, and I allowed myself a moment of peace. Time seemed to slip away, and when I finally woke up, I noticed the room was quieter. Ms. Anderson was wrapping up the lesson, her voice a distant echo.
"Alright, everyone, don't forget to complete the practice problems for tomorrow," she announced, snapping me out of my daze. I sat up, rubbing my eyes, and tried to shake off the sleepiness that still clung to me.
Few hours later...
The rest of the day flew by in a blur of classes. When the final bell rang, I felt so relieved . I gathered my things and headed to my car, eager to get home.
Back home, I dropped my backpack on the floor with a thud. I tossed my jacket onto the back of a chair and made my way to the kitchen. The smell of something good danced through the air—my mom was cooking again. I grabbed a snack, then headed to my room.
I settled at my desk, opening my laptop to do my homework. I pulled up my notes from precalculus, preparing myself for the problems that awaited me. Math was my sanctuary, a world where I could focus and lose myself in the numbers.
But tonight, I allowed myself a little distraction. I turned on Criminal Minds as background noise while I worked. The familiar theme song played, and I felt a rush of excitement as the episode unfolded. I loved how the show kept me on the edge of my seat, and it often sparked my curiosity about psychology and behavior.
After completing a few math problems, I took a quick break, scrolling through my phone. That's when I noticed a notification from Instagram. I decided to click on it, it was a notification showing somebody followed me @kelenathebaddiest.
I clicked on her profile, the girl in the pictures was stunning—flawless skin, hair done, and she had a pretty smile. I hearted the story I watched before swiping off of her page.
**This what she look like
After searching through my phone I found the perfect picture to post, I looked at it a few times before shutting my phone off.
Turning my attention back to Criminal Minds, I let the show pull me in. The drama unfolded, but my mind was still half on my phone.
Just as I started to lose myself in the episode, my phone lit up again. I picked it up, and my heart skipped a beat when I saw the notification: @kelenathebaddiest liked your story. I quickly tapped on it, she also texted me, I looked at the message smiling.
"You're so pretty! 😍"
I felt my whole body heat up, I stared at the screen for a second, trying to process it.
My fingers hovered over the keyboard as I tried to think of the perfect response. After a few moments of thinking, I decided on something.
"Thank you, You're so beautiful ! 💖" I typed back, sending the message before I could second-guess myself.
A few moments later, the episode ended, and I realized I'd barely paid attention. I couldn't focus on anything but the anticipation of what she might say next. I refreshed my Instagram, almost holding my breath, hoping for another reply.
